Re: OT Puffy Ankles

After 2 years of 'tree trunk ankles', Doctor's medication and those horrible thick tight stretchy socks, I have found the solution and after

3 weeks I can see bones again!

Its The Waterfall Diet:

for the UK one Its a 'Look Inside' book.

I actually only lost about 4lbs the first week, but have lost every week since and now I have my ankles back and am much more comfortable walking.

It looked a bit daunting when I started but as DD who is a personal trainer sent it to me as one of her clients had found it helpful, I felt I had to at least give it a go, especially as she said it was a late birthday present. Much to my surprise I have found it easier than any other diet I have been on (which must be almost all!) and have never been hungry.

Today: Breakfast = Home made muesli with soya milk (which I thought would be disgusting, but I now prefer it to cows milk. Lunch = Brown rice topped with salad and chicken with a bit of humus (also surprisingly tasty) instead of mayonnaise). Apple or a Soya Yoghurt Dinner = DH is having Spaghetti Bolognaise but mine will have chicken instead of the beef in the sauce and I have some Rice Spaghetti instead of the wheat one) followed by strawberries and blueberries topped with Vanilla Soya Yoghurt. I find it no trouble to grill me a chicken piece alongside his red meat, etc. or to construct my lunch from ready cooked items in the fridge and then make him cheese or something sandwich.

NAYY but overjoyed at being reunited with my ankles!

I'm delighted that you've found a solution, Sally, and kind of jealous that your DD is a personal trainer. I surely need one. Polly

Not sure I could take the soya milk, but having looked at the Look Inside on Amazon, it certainly looks like something I could try. Ankles are a problem, but the knees are worse! They are jetted like a 16th C inn! ;)

Thank you. Something worth looking into.

I was dreading the Soya milk, but its nice (I imagined something like that awful longlife milk). I have Alpro Original which is in the normal chilled milk section at our Co-op. As the diet forbids coffee and tea at the beginning, milk in them isn't a problem, and as I've discovered I quite like Cranberry, Apple and Elderflower Tea as it isn't as flat tasting as most fruit teas I'll probably keep on having it.

DD made some coffee for herself with Soya and for her DH with cows milk. He picked up the wrong one and commented that 'This is nice coffee'!

Its nice to have encouragement from her. Most of the time I wish she lived nearer, but when it comes to the training bit she is just the right distance away! (Love of exercise isn't hereditary!)

I shall try the Alpro, with fingers crossed that it is much improved... It's one of those things that always had me gagging, much like tofu.

Oddly, straight canned soya beans, soy sauce, and soya flour in things are all perfectly OK! So I have some hope...

I drink quite a bit of fruit tea as it is. Most are much imroved with half a teaspoon of honey!

Despite swimming a mile last night, my knees are painful and swollen today. Buggrit milenium hand and shrimp.

Congratulations on finding a good solution to the "cankle" problem that so many of us have. Sounds like you are on your way to meaningful lifestyle changes. Good for you!

I switched from regular milk to almond milk ages ago. Helped my digestion a lot. Soy milk was just too rough on my digestive system, and the taste doesn't agree with me.I was surprised at how yummy the alternate milk could be over cereal. Sometimes it's good just to break out of the standard and try something new.

Not seen that one. I'll have to do a search and see what the fat content is. My regular milk is skimmed.

Almond milk comes in fat and not fat. LOL. It also comes sweetened or not sweetened, and with vanilla or chocolate added. I've tried all the variations and like the non-sweetened, non-flavored, low fat variety for daily use. But the chocolate almond milk is over the top delicious..

In our local groceries you can also get oat milk, rice milk and hemp milk as well as the standard soy milk. I think most come with variations offered -- fat/non-fat or sweetened or such. Sunny
