Joan: This is our 5th (or 7th?) ANNUAL RCTQ QUILTING 'WEEK'!! Yes! This is the week when we make time to get FULLY back into our quilting ... in case the Holiday Season threw us off course. I finished a clothesline bag and a mini twist bag, plus put borders on a Valentine panel--all for store samples. I picked up a quilted project and wil put the binding on today. It's going to a silent auction, benefiting a school in San Francisco. (I agreed to do this for a friend of my DIL in California.) I made a sample of a Japanese knot bag from an internet pattern. Interesting, but a bit too small to be used as a wristlet bag, at least for me.
Speaking of that auction quilt, I am rather proud of myself. While I was making the quilt with the Asian inspired fabrics made into large clamshells, I knew that every block cut produced a large, irregular scrap of fabric. So everytime I cut a block, I used by 3.5"x3.5" ruler to cut out squares from the scrap. So when I had the need for an anonymous quilt, I had a whole box of little squares, coordinated and ready to sew. I'll post a picture later when the binding is on. I'm happy that I avoided having a bin of odd-shaped and probably un- used scraps! Usually not that organized!
And in the non-sewing category, I finished a pair of knitted socks last night. A Valentine gift for my bestest friend.
On to better, though not always bigger, things. joan p.s. In the organization discussion, I put up a set of wire cubbies to store yarn. Yes, my yarn stash is attempting to rival my fabric stash.
