Totally OT: When it rains it pours

What a week.....

My daughter, age 21, races micro sprint cars (has for several years). Never had a problem. Last Saturday, she was hurt while racing, she is =46INE but has 2nd degree burns on both legs (from hot radiator liquid) when a hose came undone. So she is out of work and must keep her legs up and has dressings that have to be changed twice a day. They are healing well but it hurts like HE** and she is not able to put much pressure on them yet.

Yesterday, my SIL (not darling) was rushed to the hospital (not sure how she is) she was having some kind of a seizure. We have the two kids here with us, 4 and 6 years of age, don't know how long for. Thank goodness for the spare bedroom. They did an EKG and we're waiting for the doctor to read it. =20

Then, after buying stuff at the drug store for DD, I came out to the parking lot to find a long white scratch down one side of my car! =20

UGHHHH!!

I need a beer!

Only one, lol! I think all of that calls for something much stronger than beer - unless it's Guiness Stout. At the very least, you need 2 frozen margaritas. I just happen to have a bucket of frozen margaritas in my freezer. Here's a cyber margarita to you!

LOL!! They're keeping me hopping today, and with arthritic hips and knees that's rough! But they're being good. Worried about their mom. Still waiting on a call....

Just got the two kids into bed about an hour ago and DH and I are pooped out - but he bought beer...good man.=20

SIL (not Darling) called, can hardly talk; She hardly had any breath. I suspect she'll be in the hospital for a few days at least. EKG is OK. CT scan of waist and above shows kidney stone and fluid build up in lungs. Can't imagine what could cause that... but a surgeon is coming by in AM to figure out how to drain the excess fluid. The kids talked to mom and they seem to be a little less stressed out because of it. Tomorrow we'll take them to the playground at the school to work some of this off.

My SIL has had a shunt to drain excess fluid from her brain for about 15 years now, and the big concern was it was blocked again. It happened a couple of years ago and the symptoms were similar...confusion, lethargy, acting weird...but apparently that's not the problem, they say it is clear. She is on so many meds right now, for all sorts of things but hopefully they will figure it all out.

Ah, dear friend, how I wish we could come help. We're good at opening beer, really fine at entertaining 4 and 6 years olds; would only cry with your burn patient, very puzzled that someone with a shunt for 15 years has a 4 and 6 year old . . . but what do I know? Will just hold you close in our prayers tonight. hugs, Polly

SIL's a long story.....but we won't go there -- maint hing is the kids safe & warm. Boy was I tired last night. We've got a busy day ahead with a trip to the park and a nephew's birthday party to go to.

DD will stay home, and I'm sure enjoy the peace and quiet. It's been hard for her to rest with all the activity.=20

Val, martinis sound much better than margaritas. I know we have olives and cocktail onions, I wonder if we have any gin....... Darn, no gin or vodka!

SIL is having a procedure this afternoon to have the excess fluid drained from her lungs. It isn't a surgical procedure and the nurse says they think they will discharge her tomorrow. We'll probably keep the little ones for another day until SIL is up to full speed (or as close as she'll ever be to full speed LOL)=20

Took the kids to the school playground yesterday in the AM, and to a birthday party for a nephew (their cousin) in the PM. They slept like rocks last night. This morning we all went to Denny's for breakfast.

With any luck they'll be able to talk to mom tonight.

I miss my sewing & quilting - no time and they are sleeping in my sewing room :) but hey ...life happens.

I'm off...
