Cards

My friend has asked me to make her some Christmas cards and I was wondering what the going rate was---so if anyone makes cards to sell, I would appreciate some input regarding this. I think I'll be making 20-25 for her...

Thanks,

D

I think that would depend on how much time and materials are put into each card. Some of the cards I made last year I would have sold for as much as $5-7. When you think about it, that's not very much. The average plain printed on cardstock greeting card, even at walmart, costs nearly that much.

Here's a few that I made last year.

For a friend I would probably sat $2-3 each. If the friend were buying Halmark they would be more expensive and would not be hand-crafted.

I guess it would really depend on how much work and how detailed the cards were. I mean, you don't want to give her say a price of $2 per card and then have them end up costing you $4! How about checking at local craft shows - the last one I went to had a ton of people selling homemade cards (of course, I don't know for how much, because all I kept thinking was I could do that!!).

Another thing - does she have an amount in mind that she wants to spend? It would be awkward if she thought they were going to be like 50 cents and you told her they'd be $3!

Let us know what you come up with..just in case someone asks anyone else. :)
