Embossing whoops!

I've told you how I've had great success in using the oven to emboss. Last night I had my first whoops! I decided to make my own gift tags so I pulled out my sizzix and punched about 30 tags (making a nice dent in my scrap cardstock). I inked about 20 up and dusted with power. I put 20 tags on a wooden cutting board and placed it under the broiler.

I think I tried to do too many at once because I was watching the tags on the ends and waiting for the power to melt. Meantime, the ones in the middle were done. When I pulled them out, many of the tags were "over done". The embossing was completely absorbed into the cardstock! From the back side it looked like a water mark. That was the first whoops. The second whoops was that the cutting board started cooking! Oils from within the wood bubbled to the surface and left grease spots on my tags.

I guess it was bound to happen. LOL!!

Oh no! Well, at least they didn't go up in flames. LOL But Santa definately needs to get you an embossing heat gun for Christmas.

Ooopsy!! Well at least nothing went up in smoke! LOL sounds like something I'd do. Perhaps Santa will put an embossing gun in your stocking.

Maybe you could try using a baking stone next time.
