Finding my style

I think I have finally found my scrapbooking style. I lean toward the simple, maybe because I don;t really know how to use embellishments. I have now started an album for myself of my kids' growing up years and how I can be a bit cuter with that, but I have to tell you the story of the first page in that album. The first page is my daughter's birth (she's older than my son). I bought this cute pink and white paper that said "baby" and had a theme of footprints and handprints in vellum, that had a matching regular paper in blue for a boy. The paper is DARLING but once I started putting the page together, I started to wonder. Something wasn't right here. Even as a baby, Laura, my DD, wasn't a ruffles and lace sort of girl. I always told people she was more gingham and eyelet, and that's still true. The paper, I realized was just TOO pink and white. So what did I do? I grabbed some black material with pink polka dots and black middie braid and came up with this. TO be honest, it worried me it, seeing black as appropriate for a baby page, but it LOOKS right for Laura. I still need to find something for the tag. The journaling is on a black piece of cardstock that I pierced with a round hole punch so the pink would show through and imitate the fabric on the tag. My son's page was blue and white and needed punch, so I added red. I have a bit of bead work still to add to it. Now we come to my first question. You will notice that neither page has a title, other than what was pre-printed. I am absolutely LOUSY at titles! Not at thinking of them, but as making them. ANY help would be appreciated! I have Print Shop version 20 and PSP which I use extensively since my handwriting is truly dreadful. I don't see many sticker letters I like. My second question is, I'm hopeless with embellishments. Mine always look too busy so I wind up not using them much., Other people's look wonderful, but mine just come out silly looking. Any tips there would also be ...
