My Scrapping Nook

It turned out cute, Judy! How great that you have a special space of your own to work on your projects (with the added bonus that you don't have to clean up each time you have to return to the "real world" for awhile)!

Can you use what we call "grey water"? Water saved from doing dishes, laundry, etc that's good enough for the garden?

Thanx Alicia! Yep, that's the best part. Really became a hassle to pack everything out on a Friday night, just to store it away on a Sunday...and then if guests came to visit...everything looked untidy, so that problem is solved now!

We use gray water on our courtyard garden, as it is easy accessible from the kitchen. It does help, but it's not that practical for lawns, which is the main part of the garden suffering at the moment. But the seasons are turning, and we are hoping for a wet winter :)

O.K. Judy...Since it is turning into winter there..I must ask....do you all ever have snow? Or even cold weather? We are getting Spring here and I am enjoying the bright colors of my early flowers right now. Some nights are still a little chilly. At this time of year it can be pretty nasty with rain, tornados, thunderstorms and even a little snow! Generally by mid or end of May ,it's pretty warm.

No, fortunately for me, it never snows here Sabrina :) Otherwise I might have frozen my you-know-what off in there! LOL ! Or tried to scrap with woolen mittens on or something. I would have loved to have the experience of snow tho! About 10/15 years ago there was a very light coating on Table Mountain and it made headline news around the country...it was so rare!

I think our weather is pretty similar to what you guys have in California. Dry, very warm summers and and wetter winters with a lot of wind in the spring and autumn. Being at the coast, our weather is never too extreme - ie no thunderstorms, tornado's etc. In the eight years I've lived in Cape Town, we only had a hail storm once! It does get a bit rainy in the winter tho...could rain for two weeks non-stop, but it's "gentle" soft rain, not stormy. Our temps can get pretty high in summer and coolish in winter, but never freezing :) Temps are starting to come down this side and the trees are starting to loose their leaves. We are very thankful for that! It has been a relentlessly hot and dry summer.

That looks great Judy. I loved the wood. I can't believe you painted the inside. It still looks great though. What a nice little quite place for you to go and get away and scrap. Enjoy.

Thanks Shannon :) The outside wood was water proofed (treated), that's why it's a bit darker on the ouside, but not the inside. So just to make sure everything is water tight...we decided to do it in a light yellow oil based paint. Also it gives a more spacious and "brighter" feel. I love natural wood too tho, so I know exactly what you mean. I must say, I've spend quite some time there in the past week, and you're right, it really is nice to be away from the rest of household :)
