My version of the Bears

I love to look at paper piecing, but have not tried much of it. The bears on Ebay are beautiful. I decided to give them a try - but have not been able to find the right shade of brown homemade paper. I did find red, white and green over the holidays at Hobby Lobby so I decided to try a Christmas Bear. I tore a lot of paper -made lots of mistakes - but I think I'm doing better. I finally copied a bear out of an Accu-cut catalogue I liked and enlarged it on the copier to the right size. Made a few copies and then cut the parts out and traced them on the back of the homemadepaper so I could tear on the lines. It's in my webshots in Sarah's album.

That looks very nice. One wouldn't know it was your first try. I think a few white highlights on either the nose or the eyes and you'd have a hundred dollar bear. Thanks for sharing.

That is SO cute Sandy! I was kinda thinking that maybe the ones on Ebay used mulberry but now that I see yours I'm not so sure... :) Great job!

The bear is wondeerful and Sarah is so pretty in her Christmas finery!

I'm a big bear fan and I've lots of handmade paper in my store stash. I am thinking that the baby album ?I have will have some bears in it! Since I make teddies, I have lots of patterns to use too! Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful creation.

Yes, I did. I found it easier to tear on the lines after I traced the bear. Sandy

Thanks! I won't tell her though. She would die if she saw her page on the Internet. She is 21 (as of Christmas Day) and this was one of the portrait pics I am working on now from the 'older' box. Sandy

I'm still having trouble finding the handmade paper in the brown to try the teddy vears. I'm hoping the next time I get to the 'big city' I will be able to get some. I have 2 small LSS's 22 miles away, but they don't carry anything that will work. Sandy

Wow, that photo looks as if it could have been taken this Christmas. Actually, being 21 she would pobably love to see it on line.

Sandy, one of my PP buddies says she tried doing the bears with mulberry paper that she took a damp tooth brush and brushed it up so it looked fuzzy ,and got the same look as the e-bay one. I have not tried it but I do like some of her patterns. I think bunnies would probably be cute made that way.

I did click and there was nothing. I kept going back again and again and finally there it was. Everyone else was seeing it so I just kept at it. Thanks Irene
