I closed the daycare last Thurs and Fri to take a four day weekend so the kids and I could go to Gattlinburg and my Mom has a stroke an hour before the daycare closes on Wed. I spend Wed night with her at ER for 4 hours and the cat-scan showed nothing so they sent her home. But, I knew there was something wrong because of her arm and leg - she was having so much trouble walking. She is extremely overweight and uses a cane - I felt they just brushed us off because they were so busy. I decided not to leave the area and canceled the trip. It was a good thing because it got worse the next day. She finally got a MRI because her doctor ordered it and it did show a stroke. Her arm and leg got worse and she can't walk at all now. After 3 days in the hospital she was transferred to the nursing home about 10-12 blocks from my house. They anticipate 6-8 weeks of therapy before she will be able to return home. At least the only things effected were her left arm and leg. Between working all day and splitting the evenings between the nursing home, two kids and their homework, scouts and trying to get a few hours sleep I'm exhausted. Leaving tomorrow afternooon for a three day camping trip (cabin) with my Girl Scout troop of 4th to 7th graders. The weather is suppose to be perfect for fall - 70's and partly cloudy. Great fall pictures....5 miles of hiking trails in a secure/ private (scout) campground. I finally get to rest. The girls are great and so are my assistant leaders. See you when I get back. Sandy
