OT: back From Hotlanta!!

Well obviously I am BACK!! It was an interesting week or trip at that. I am so happy with my job overall that I can overlook those little nuisnces!! Though I do have to admit at times like everyoe here, there are days! Sometimes I wish I did nt HAVE to work, but how would I fund my, err, OUR addiction!! My poor little retirement would not cut it at all!

The trip was a bit nerve racking for me because I was driving the owers (David's) Yukon and he borrowed someone's brand new trailer. we had to save some money somewhere and he thought I was kiddin' abou how much gas it would use, like a semi almost!! But I prevailed and drove safely. still hate atlanta though, nota s bad as Houston or Chicago!!

On way down I stayed overnite in Tupelo, MS. That is a prety clean, nice little twon and want tos ee more. anyhow there was one small LSS there. Of course I had to go! Well let me tell ya, it was a fantastic one. she was surprised to meet a real male scrapper, but only things I had with me was my two treasures I will always carry, my altered journal book from Jessie and ofcourse my special one from april. she was truly amazed at April's book.

anyhow in this store she had a line of paper from some company I am gonna call and ask her, that had themes I have never seen anywhere else before nad they were gorgeous!! Even MC agreed and I remembered a few peopel in here as I saw some special pages.

She also had Kaledioscopes which are fantastic! She and anther person are artists that draw their own paper designsa nd she is startingto branch out and try to go on line. The stuff that she had that blew me away was er selection from companies I had never heardof before was destinatio and travel themed papers and SPORTS. i mean ALL SPORTS stuff. WOW!! I wish i could have bought much more than i di, but being a small town in the middle of the tulies, she was a bit high priced, at least 79 cents per sheet. So I only made away with about 80 sheets - LOL!

the other thing she had was these fantastic packs from Colrbok. WOW again!! They are great and actually cheap for what is in them and as we all know, colorbok is good quality paper.

Ok enough of that. Abot the show. We had a part in a big specail trade show that caters to the corporate peopel who look at things o book for things. We had a small show with aout 20 other groups. some of them that we have performed with before for a 'mad painter" from Vegas, A Barbra Streisand impersonator, the three tenors, a really funny humorist called Marky Mark and several different types of dance and music groups.

A very popular entertainer for these shin digs is a aerialist. These are usaully Russian guys who from a wire flown in overhead do aerobic type exercises from a long sheet type cloth attached to these overhead cables. well during the dress rehearsal, riht before us, he was goingthru his act when it happened. he was about 10 feet up and the cable broke. he fell to the stage and luckily it was not as solid as it neded to be for us (we ad all kinds of troubles with our illusions rolling and the dancers) that he sorta bounced and rolled. lucky he sorta rolled when he did as on the cable there is this lead weighted ball for a counterweight that weighs a bout 10 ponds. it fell and struck him on a hand, just missinghis head.

I was the closest to him on the stage as agian we were next to try again and rushed right to him. He was stunned but otherwise ok. His hand was quite swollen by now and later we found out after he was checked out, just badly bruised. Talk about a big waker upper. It scared the tarnation out of the show prooters to say the least and our dancers were quite upset too. As a result of it and the badly aligned stage, we scratched two of the four things we were to do. his act was also cancelled - LOL!

So that was basically it and as usaul I am glad to be home. From the sounds or looks of it I am gonna be gone most of september. i know I have to go back there to Atlanta, to Chicago and NJ. Of course I will keep ya u to date as I know or find out!!!

Hey Dave...we have a hurricane on the way...wanna visit? Quite frankly, I have not figured out what the heck I'm going to do...or need to do for that matter. They make it sound like Baton Rouge will not get any of the really bad stuff...just wind gusts and rain. I don't know if that means I can stay home or if I should spend the night at the hotel where my husband works just to be safe. If I decide to leave, I will not have a place to sleep, nor will I be able to bring my furbabies, so I am truly torn on what to do. Don't worry, I'll do what is safest for ME.

I do hope you are safe and evacuation will not be necessary for you. I have watched the news on and off all day and pray this will just be a bad dream for all concerned in the morning and the darn thing ran out of steam. Though from the looks of things everyone in the US will be effected by this disaster one way or another.

My exSIL is in an RV full of people on the Interstate trying to get out of New Orleans right now. Though he is about my least favorite person in the world I do not wish him harm. He is after all the father of two of my grandchildren. Sandy

I have been thinking of all those people on the interstates and hoping they all find somewhere safe soon so that they can get off the roads. A car or an RV on the side of the road is the last place I would want to be when Katrina hits! I hope he and everyone else makes it to safety!

Pensacola opened up shelters for anyone on the road who needs shelter. I don't know how they are getting the word out but I wish everyone well. hugs Irene

Gee Dave, sounds like a normal road trip for you, minus someone getting hurt. I mean, you drove many many miles, saw at least one LSS, bought more paper (you FLOOZY King you!), and worked hard. :-) Of course, we're glad to see you back home and in one piece.
