OT: FL Roll Call - post Frances - R U all OK?

I'm sitting here and hoping and praying that everyone is OK. Just thought it would be nice if we could find out how each of you is doing and if you got out of it unscathe. Meanwhile my prayers continue to be with you and your families.

I just talked to my DS and he and his GF are staying put in Atlanta as they can't get in touch with anyone in Deland or Daytona yet.

Hi M-C!! We are still alive:) We are having lots of rain and strong gusts of wind as the east side of the storm catches us. We have only had small limbs and leaves cluttering the yard but some of our neighbors have had huge trees come down - none on their houses that I can tell. We don't have phone service but after having no electricity from 7 pm until 10 am this morning, no phone ringing is just fine! Cell phone service is on and off and cable and Road Runner are up and running!! Our Ellisville store (where you stopped) is not in good shape! The landlord kept dragging his but about getting the roof repaired and the roofing company had replaced wood and put the paper on and only about half of the shingles. We have water standing on the floor all over in our store and the ceiling tiles are severely damaged. We also had no power for nearly 24 hours now. We will lose all product and all I can say is THANK GOD for insurance!! Our Lake Butler store is in great shape physically - no power for 24 hours so we will lose all our product there, too. Luckily I called our insurance on Friday to see what was covered and we have $10,000 for food spoilage, business interruption insurance, and payroll insurance. We will use the employees to help us clean up and get going again.

I hope everyone else is okay - good thing your son and his GF are in Atlanta. They may end up with some rain but hopefully no power outages or winds.

Any other FL girls out there who can let us know how you're doing? I'm thinking Mel might be flooded in. Susan, Carol, Hilda, M-C, Kelly, Wendy, Maureen, Irene - did I miss anyone?

We are fine. Had wind and rain is all. Neighbors fence went down but it was leaning anyway. Lots of tree debris but mainly it's leaves...very few branches.

DSIL in WPB was w/o power and phone but they are fine. DMIL heard from them earlier today. Another relative in the Daytona area said they are still w/o power.

DD b/f and family were w/o power for 24 hrs and no phone for about 12. Both have been restored. We are so fortunate to have had phone and power the whole time. Actually got some scrapping done too! DD and I are doing an 8X8 album for her b/f (12 Months in Review). We made good headway and it's turning out nice. Thanks for the prayers. S

I'm here. :) We came back today from my in-laws house. We just got a lot of wind and rain. But we are all doing good. Thanks for thinking of us. We have another hurricane coming pretty soon as well.

That's because I am still a FL gal at heart! I miss it, though not so much in the last 2 weeks. The weather has been a whole lot better in AR. I am told that this is the best summer weather they have had in a long time!

Sure hope that you get everything back up and running soon and that your landlord gets a good a__ kicking for letting a roof go undone during hurricaine season!

We've been having a lot of rain, little wind, some flooding in a few areas...very minor here in SC. However we do have tornado watches in effect until 5am. I'm a bit nervous as a sighting has occured in Cottageville which is only aobut 8 miles up the road from me. I think we may bed down in my hallway tonite.

Sorry to hear that you are going through such a stressful time with this storm too, Jessie. Sleeping in the hallway is a great idea if it keeps you safe and allows you to get some sleep. Please update us in the morning on how you're it went!

Sorry to hear of the Store damage Patty - and very happy to hear insurance will cover it.

We are okay - no power or phone for 28 hrs. Lots of tree's down, branches and leaves everywhere. We and my parents were fortunate as we have no damage. Marion County hit hard - No school until further notice. E-One closed for today - that's great because that's 5 days off in a row - a mini vacation of sorts! We went out on a search for gas and ice yesterday - Dad needed more to keep the generator running so Mom had oxygen and AC - we needed the ice - Lucky got gas just in time everywhere in town is out of gas. Finally found ice last night before the curfew - so that saved the food in the freezer and refrig! We are still getting heavy rain, severe thunderstorms and under tornado warnings and another curfew tonight. I praise the Lord that we once again were spared any damage. I do not even want to think about Ivan!

Hoping everyone fair as well as we did anxious to hear how Carol is - I know they left home but sure will feel better once I know all of us in FL are okay! Maureen in FL aka Smilingtooo :-) SMILE BE HAPPY :-)

Seems like Deland where my son lives was hit pretty hard. Stetson University where he works and is doing his MBA is closed for at least 4 days more and perhaps up to a week. As of last night they did not have power either in the town or on campus and several of the buildings on campus sustained damage. They are telling their teachers and staff as well as the students not to come back until further notice. At this point we have no idea how his appartment fared or his GF's dorm and she is really stressing over her car which they left on campus.

Frankly, I'm just glad they got away before it hit. Deland is 15/20 minutes away from Daytona beach so hopefully Carol will at least go back to only the damage that had already been caused by Charley and nothing new.

Sorry to hear where your son lives got hit so hard. I hope things recover there quickly and Ivan leaves them alone.
