Okay, the computer has been revived, seems to be working. I can't get the newsgroups to download into MS Outlook Express so have to go through google. Which I must say I detest!
We've been jumping through hoops trying to get DS#1 approved to go to bootcamp this summer. He had his gallbladder taken out 3 years ago. The military dr was confused because his birthcertificate says one thing and his medical records have a different last name. His adoption papers don't have his previous name on them. I get the recruiter his orginal bc and the dr. goes home for the day. So DS#1 has to wait until he gets back from his 10day trip to Guatamala to find out if he is cleared, then HOPE there is a slot left as they are nearly filled in!
I was looking forward to getting off work this morning at 7am as I'll be on vacation for 10 days straight. We get a call at 5:15 am to a commerical fire. "PD is on scene and they see heavy smoke and flame showing." Oh crap we know it's going good! We got there got it knocked down; I was inside on my belly digging through Alpo dog food (Did I say this was at a dollar general type store?), armorall bottles that had been melted, boxes of macaroni to get to the seat of the fire and I felt like something was biting my leg. I got up moved around it didn't help, I got back down on my belly kept what I was doing couldn't stand it it hurt so bad so got up and got out. Went around the side of the pumper pulled up my pantleg took off my boot didn't see anything; got everything put back properly and went back in, got back down on my belly got right back up went outside took off my helmelt, hood, mask. Was asked what was wrong, heck I don't know but something is burning me and it smells like bleach! I was taken this way and that way, cussing the whole time! finally decide just to go back to my pumper and wash myself down. I got started that way and began peeling off my turnouts, still cussing trying not to cry I hurt so bad. The ambulance got there just as I'd peeled off my turnout pants and boots I was about to come out of my socks and uniform pants. They got me hosed off and I felt better but not much. The assistant chief took me back to my station so I could get showered and that only made it worse so he called an amublance to take me to the hospital as my hands and throat were burning as well. The dr came in and I nearly choked him as he couldn't understand why I was there (So you're here for smoke inhalation, NO I had on an airpac I believe I've got clorine burns) I was sent home with instructions to use lotion (yea right) and that would make it better. I spent 2 hours filling out works comp forms.
I then get home and help DS#1 get packed for his 10day trip to Guatamala. After that I looked at the guinea pigs. One of them had lost the use of her back legs (we knew this was coming) so I had to take her to the vet and have her put down. Come home and bury her with the rest of the furbabies in our pet cemetary. We will be leaving in a few minutes to put DS#1 on his plane.
I certainly hope the vacation starts to look up or I'm just going to call it a wash and go back to work! I'll catch up on posts later. Everyone take care!
Hugs to all, Kenda
