The other night before bedtime, DS was in my lap and we were doing our "I love you more" thing. Somewhere in there I said "I love you all the way to the sky and back." DS thought about that and said "I love you all the way to the sky, to heaven, to God and back." (How cute is that!) Of course, no picture was taken. LOL Have you ever thought about scrapping those pictureless, priceless, moments? Maybe I could take a picture of him now (which I haven't done in a while), then do a "Priceless" themed LO. What's the credit card commercial where they list 2 or 3 things and the amount, ending it with "blah blah blah: priceless"? That's kind of along the lines I'm thinking of. What do you think? Am I making sense? It may be the coffee talking. LOL

Hi Deb,
You are making perfect sense.
You can always do a paper piece (or jolee's stickers) layout where you recreate the bedroom environment.
Then in a frame put the journalling (or bedtime ritual) in it.
I think it would be a beautiful layout.
Kate
I know Creative Memories "personel" who have scrapped pictureless pages. Why, because they believe in documenting the precious moments. That's really, kinda what scrapbooking is about afterall. Saying "I lived and these were the best of times!"
Go for it! You do not need a picture. You cannot recreate the moment but you can cherish it in its purity forever IF you are smart enough to document it! And it sounds to me like you are :)
Thanks for sharing your moment with us. It is indeed precious!

Hello Deb,
I am also thinking about making a "picture-less" layout - I have some text messages in my old phone, messages that my husband sent me on the day of our wedding minutes before we got married. I have been keeping these in the phone for sentimental reasons for years, re-reading them every now and again, but the phone won't last much longer and I really, really don't want to lose these text messages....so I am thinking of some way to "preserve" them though I don't have a picture to go with them.
I have seen a layout where someone has used Mastercard add for inspiration - I think the whole layout "looked" like a credit card and the journalling reflected the wording in the ad.
I think it is a great idea to "document" moments like these...

I only have a couple of pictures of one of my sons as a baby and toddler because my ex-husband broke into my home and stole all the pictures and videos out of spite. I have been begging my family and friends to look their pics but they are not the best when it comes to doing something that they aren't interested in. Like someone mentioned my idea was to do a paper piecings of some of those early memories and then journal on the page. Right now I am working on a piecing of his blankie and I plan to include a square of that dirty old rag in the layout. (He didn't give that blanket up until he was 15 (my sister stole it because she couldn't stand that he still was attached to it) and I only have 1 picture of him with it when he was about a year old).
Why are ex's so mean? Mine took every picture I ever took of my dog. Never mind that he got to keep the dog anyway, but he purposes kept all the pics. I scrounged and scrounged and came up with 5 pictures (one of which has my ex's head in it). Six years with that dog, and all I have is 5 pics (I probably had close to 600.) Its been 10 years, and it still hurts. I can only imagine how you feel. I'm still going to scrap my dog though. He was my first dog ever and I need to tell his story. Its a continual work in progress. I mean, how do you scrap 5 pictures? I'm playing with the head shot one in PhotoShop, I'm cutting that no-good #(^%^_!@ out of the picture!
As for the blankie, what an excellent idea. My twin, who is 38, still has part of her "blankie" in her hope chest. Her husband finally made her get rid of most of it, but she still has this like 4 foot section of it. Kathy
LOL!! Ya'll talk like WE do it only - my last did that to me and I have no pix of the dog she bought ME or the baby.
My first refused to take ANY pictures so I ended up with ALL of them from our wedding, hney moon nad short tgetherness. I have kept a lot of them and want to scrap them - someday. LOL - I bet she tells everyone I TOOK them!!
EX's - GEESH!

Ok, ok, I concede! (she gasps as she is ROFLMAO!). Thanks for putting it in perspective. It really is much easier to break up now than it was, say, 10 years ago. I mean, just copy the pics to another CD and your done. Not to mention splitting the music collection-just burn 'em to a new CD. Kids these days will never know the havoc we went through . . .
I'm glad I'm not the only one wanting to do a picture-less LO. LOL I've gotten some ideas, now to just do it. I've thought about taking a picture of DS, and cropping it down to just his face, and enlarge it if need be. I'm not sure yet. I may just have to make the time to sit down and do the LO before it gets away from me.
I have to say Deb, the stories you were telling me the other day about DS cracked me up and I think you should do some layouts. Even some of the stories you told me about you and Brad! ROFL
I'm tempted to do a layout about when Larry met my parents for the first time.
Here's the journalling:
My best friend, Frank (who up to that point I had known for 8 years), introduced me to Larry and after several months of dating, I decided it was time to introduce Larry to my folks.
My Dad has a knack of showing off his prized possessions; his rifle collection. If he only shows the downstairs collection he likes the young man because these don't work -- except maybe as a baseball bat. If he shows the young man the upstairs collection AND the downstairs collection, he likes the young man quite a bit. The upstairs collection is the working collection of various gages. It is a very good unspoken threat.
My mother, god bless her, is gullible and has always been at our mercy as far as practical jokes. She was asleep and my father said "Larry watch this. Janet your hair is on fire." My mom being sound asleep proceeds to pat her hair to put out the fire. "Janet, if you're happy and you know it?" So my mom, still asleep, clapped her hands.
So the Saturday after his arrival we went out garage saling with my dad. While we were gone the telephone rang and woke up my mother. It was Frank. Frank realized my mother was still half awake half asleep decided to have some fun. Now realize after 8 years of him calling you'd think she'd recognize his voice because he insists he didn't disguise it.
He asked "Hi I understand Larry is staying by you this weekend." "Yes" my mom replied "but he isn't here he is out with Kate and her father." "oh, can I leave a message?" "sure, let me get a pen and paper. go ahead" "I'm a friend, who um, um, wants to speak to him about something important" "who are you?" "Larry's boyfriend." "boyfriend?" (she is now thinking how is she going to tell me because she knows I really like Larry at this point and my track record with men wasn't the greatest.) "yes boyfriend, can you tell him I called?" "sure, can I take your number?" (frank is laughing at this point because he's realized my mom believes him and doesn't recognize his voice) "MRS. H, it's Frank, Frank Pomata" "Frank? Frank! how could you."
Needless to say, 10 years later we're trying desperately to figure out a way to get back at him. We did however make him our best man and he is still my friend.
*****************************I'm thinking curtains, a telephone, and a couch are all I need to paperpiece to make it a masterpiece what do you think.
Kate
The paperpiece sounds like the perfect touch for the story. (A good story, by the way! LOL) At least you had a sense of humor about it!
Once I do our wedding album, I'm going to have to add the story about DH asking my Dad if we could get married. DH, being the good southern boy, wanted to ask my Dad...even though I had already said yes. He proposed on a Sunday night. Monday, I asked my sister for advice on telling Mom & Dad I was engaged. (Got to remember they had just met him, we had only known each other a short while, met over the internet, etc etc...doesn't help any that I'm the youngest and Daddy's girl! LOL) My sister was at our parent's house. Her response to my question was "I...uhh...don't know." Lots of help sis! LOL I didn't know this, but she got off the phone and went back to grading papers. Graded the same problem 3 times. :-) My sister can't lie to save her life, and Mom started askign questions...and sis spilled the beans. Even though I had told her not to tell...again, can't lie to save her life, I forgot that part. LOL So on Friday night, DH took me home on his way back to AR. Here we are, standing in front of my Dad, who is doing his best "you're in big trouble" look. The conversations went...
Brad: Sir, I understand Debbie's the baby of the family. Dad: (nods) Mm-hmm (Deb thinks "We're dead." Brad: And from what Debbie says, she's somewhat of Daddy's little girl... Dad: (nods again, scowls a bit) Mmmm-hmmm Brad: And...umm...uhh Dad: Brad, if you're asking if you're good enough to marry my daughter, the answer's no. (Deb thinks "Oh Lord, come quickly.") (buddy Brad rode with was in the living room and said "You're on your own man!" and headed to the door)
And Dad turns around! It didn't take me long to realize Mom was trying not to giggle, sis was giggling, and BIL was giggling. They planned the whole thing! And you guys wonder why there's no sanity in my house. LOL
I'm not real sure how to scrap that, but it certainly does need to be in there. The only thing I come up with is the journaling with words expressing the emotions around it: nervous, laughter, crazy, scared, etc.
Haha.. these stories are great!!
I have scrapped picture-less moments before, such as "good luck" cards
- as the event hasn't happened yet! I find that old stamps are great! You can buy packets of used stamps from shops like Big W, Target (not sure if these stores are only in Aus..) but general department stores.
Kate and Deb, I think these stories would be great fun to scrap! If I were to scrap either of these, I would probably use a deep pink background paper with a huge light coloured heart off-centre on the page - probably with doileys (sp?) underneath. Then, by hand write down exactly what you have here on strips of paper and jager your story over the page! If you had a laughing photo of you both I would include that too - i love scrapping laughing photos!!
:)
Laura
I like the idea of the strips of paper. I'll have to remember that. It kind of was a chaotic night when they did that to me.
Oh, I forgot to add that when Frank did finally come over my dad was CLEANING one of the working guns as he was talking to Frank about his plans for the upcoming week.
Frank replied "Living I hope."
LOL
Kate
OMG Kate and Deb, I can PICTURE both your dh's in those situations, as well as you Deb - LOL!!!
(laughing to self as BOTH those houses are FULL of crazy, senseless people!!__
where oh where c I hide now and wondering if I will be the same - LOLOLOL!!!
