Tried something new

Decided to try to print a background for a page I'm doing and then I'll add pics and color in with my watercolor pencils. Was trying to do a digital page in Photoshop Elements but didn't have the patience to figure it out. Need to take an online class. So for now am trying to make my own pages for something new and exciting. Anyone try this? Let me know. Hilda

Aloha Hilda, I have printed backgrounds and clip-art to use several times on my pages. It makes it much easier than buying a stamp for specific things I want. I have printed on watercolor paper, vellum, printer paper, you name it. Another thing I like to do is print things out on regular computer paper and then use sharpies to trace it onto transparencies then color it in. Can't wait to see what you do!

Oh yea, instead of taking an online class (unless it is free) you could just use the tutorials for the program that is online. There are tons of them! They are super easy to follow and a great help.

I use Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator _all the time_ in my scrapbooking. I don't do my entire pages digitally, because I like 12x12 and I don't have a 12x12 printer. I also really enjoy the process of cutting and gluing, and I like the dimensionality of manually created pages.

There are so many possibilities for using Photoshop for backgrounds and embellishments. What I have is Photoshop CS, and I'm not sure how different Elements is, so I don't know if any of my tips would be relevant or not. But here is their website for learning how to use it:

Thanks Crystal and I like the tracing idea.

Thanks, I have bookmarked that website and will see about their tutorials. I think PS Elements are a watered down version of PS. Even still I need to take some online tutorial class. Hilda

Well, let us know how it goes! I can't imagine how I'd scrap without digital assistance, since a lot of my memories aren't the typical things you can easily find scrapbook paper and embellishments for. That is, until Martha Stewart comes out with her "Look at all the stupid stuff we did when we were so drunk" line.

That is so funny! But she may put out a line that says "Crafts I did when I was incarcerated". Just joking as I really like her and her shows. Hilda
