Way OT: Renovation Pictures

Since so manyt of you have heard about the kitchen renovation that I rushed through in a 3 week period, I thought I'd post them for those interested. I do plan on making an album for this house that will include before and after pictures.

They are in my webshot account under Little Rock home.

Wow, you definetly have done a lot M-C. Your kitchen looks very roomy now and your new carpeting and flooring look great. Did you do this all yourself?

Well no... call me the general contractor. I had someone come in and take down the old cabinets and put in the new ones and hook up the new appliances. Kenda's eldest DS helped taking down the wallpaper. I did however take down all the paneling and the chair rail and base boards and painted the kitchen. I had the floor put in and that's another story.

Kenda's DH helped paint the Living room. There is still a whole lot to do but the kitchen was important.

Thanks guys. I'm not sure the scraproom will look all that great. For one thing I'm not planning on painting it since, if we need to sell in 8 months, I want the guys to still be able to think of it as a workshop. So basically it will be cleaner and will have craft stuff set up. But then again... I might think of something to make it a little more cheerful!

M-C, You could always use fabric (which you could easily get at a good price with a 40% or 50% off coupon at Joann's). I watched a lady put it up in her daughter's room. She sewed panels together (this was for only 2 walls in the room and one was solid and the other had a window) to stretch the width and then she stapled the fabric at the top and bottom. Since it was a little girl's room, she used a cording (made from the same material) to line the top and bottom (and to cover the staples) and she also used it in the corners and around the window. It was so cool!!! So you could probably use some long pieces of coordinating fabrics to cover any large walls (think of the wall as a layout!) and this will help make the space feel more comfy. Then you can use some little lighting on your one set of cabinets (maybe those little tart burners for pleasant aromas while you work). My creative juices are flowing and it's 1:42 am!! I need to go to sleep but I'm installing my new printer with a flatbed scanner - hooray!!

That all sounds creative and fun. Man I'm a wiz with a staple gun and a glue gun. You'd be surprised how your space could turn out. I say go for it, make it your space. Maybe you'll appeal to another scrapper like yourself when it comes time to sell.

Well, Jessie, if we could both find the money and the time we could take a trip out to Petite Pierre du Nord (AR) and fix up M-C's space for her. I love doing home improvements and such!

I'll let ya know when I hit the lottery. We'll fly out and take care of it, won't cost her a dime, she can sit back and admire. And then when we're done we'll get some serious bevarage consumation and some serious scrappin' done to celebrate.

Sounds like a plan!!! Anyone up for Margaritas, Daiquiri's, or Pina Colada's?

For some odd reason, I missed the whole thread about coming out and helping with the craft roon fid-up! What fun it would be! On the other hand, having all the peg holes to hang up the scrapbook stuff is not a bad thing! But I will keep the fabric idea in mind as well as the idea of using a glue gun! Sounds like there are a few things that could be done using those two ideas! Thanks and Jessie, please make sure you buy a lottery ticket.

Patty, sure hope that you keep safe and that you guys don't get any damage. Looks like Frances might just cross the state and head your way!
