Hey now... it depends where you drive in Ontario. There are some beautiful places and scenery here. I don't care for the "scenery" on the 400 highways... nothing but cars with trees on both sides of the road most of the way unless you're passing cities like Toronto then it's nothing but concrete all around you. But if you drive on the smaller highways that take you through towns and villages, or near lakes, etc it's very pretty scenery.

No, it's just slow. I can go to the next message with a single poke of a needle at the appropriate key, but for answering, I have to put the knitting down. I do have to recheck my work carefully every so often, but I have to do that anyway, I'm such a space cadet some days.

Yep, I've k&ng'ed. Only if its stocking stitch though - I couldn't do a complicated pattern, and it's best if you are reading long messages.

I watch TV, or DVDs / videos. I listen to music sometimes, or just plain sit and chat to people. I have a close friend who crochets in the car, but only when she's a passenger. She made a scarf for her daughter on a journey from Derbyshire to South Wales last year.

I have been known to knit whilst staffing a charity stall, when there's a lull in customers. That's actually a ploy to draw in other knitters and get them to buy something.

I knit or crochet when on here watching tv listening to the radio waiting for lunch or evening meal to cook in the pub whilst the men are yakking on I'm not a drinker so I think I'm wasting knitting or crochet time if I'm in our local just listening to their topics of conversation. I don't take it out on the town though..lol reading, often have a knitting or crochet going whilst reading a book.

Can't seem to manage it whilst hoovering, but I did make myself an apron with a large pocket so that things can come with me around the house.

DD1 said to me during our phone conversation, ''you knitting or something mum?'' and of course I was...lol

cheers.......Cher

Talking about bringing your knitting with you... the Halcyon yarn catalogue has a little doo-hickey that you put on your wrist like a bracelet and attach to the ball of yarn - it hangs from your wrist. I didn't see it on the website, but a phone call or email might get you the info. It looks like a dandy little item...

Hi Jeanette,

Welcome to the group, glad to see you delurk and join the conversation. I've seen many women working on the projects at craft fairs too.

Hugs,

Oh no, it takes two and by the time I got to the "Don't you ever come near me again" stage I'd given up knitting anyway. A very sweet angel top in green for the 2nd baby and a white cardi for the 3rd (didn't know genders beforehand in those days!!) Love & higs (with fond memories of dear little babies, now displaced by affection for strapping great adults) Christine

hehehe Glad to hear your husband was in no danger! ;o)

And it sure doesn't take long for little angels to become large adults, does it? :o/

LOL! I'm very glad to hear about this Christine! DH and I went to our first childbirth class yesterday and they talked about finding things to distract yourself during the early stages of labor. I immediately decided that I would have to make sure I had some knitting ready to go.
