actually, what you are *really* going to need is something to distract your husband in the early stages of labor ;) if at all possible, send him to work or out for a walk (there's the real reason midwives in the "old days" had the husbands out boiling water). otherwise he'll be hovering & making you crazy! i made the mistake of waking Tom up when my water broke (& i wasn't even having contractions yet) at 1 am. i went & read usenet. he went nuts. it was rather funny in hindsight, but i really should have left him sleeping... oh, & don't take spicy Cheez-its for labor snacks... they taste great, but the smell on hubby's breath is really annoying. lee
