Sheesh, woman, you are motivated! I'll be lucky to have finished a couple pair of socks this month. That's fine with me, though. I still hope to have that Absolutely Fabulous throw finished for my friend's wedding gift not long after her wedding next Saturday, and if I remember I'll take a picture of the finished product, for a change

My sentiments exactly. When you take the time to make something special, it should go to someone who will appreciate your efforts. ;>)

Just to add to Olwyn Mary's comment: if it turns out they like the items from the store and at least give a thank-you, then you can stop trying to create something yourself that they will appreciate. If they don't value beautifully hand-knit items and prefer mass-produced gifts, then that's what you should give them(if you feel like giving them anything at all, of course).

Yannow what? Olwyn Mary has a point here. Why waste your time trying to "impress" or "please" these people? Knit/crochet/whatever for people who do appreciate it, and stop beating yourself up about them.

I'm dealing with a similar situation. I was all set to knit a whole bunch of things for my future granddaughter (my 1st grandchild due in Jan!) and I realized the parents to be are not enthused at all by the idea of hand knit items. I've knit a few things, but I won't knit as many as I thought I would.

I'll wait a few years until she is old enough to tell me herself that she wants these things and then go crazy :)
