Or possibly, since even NM realizes they are passé, maybe you were suckered into buying one of these:

Oh, dear those are SO last year. Really Joanne, I'm so sorry about your complete lack of knowledge about what is au courant. Please do try to get up to speed. ;->

We had coooold temps last night, according to my indoor-outdoor thermometers, it was down to 28°F. My birdbaths were skating rinks this morning. No precipitation though, thank Mother Nature!

Oh My, snow in Houston. That's incredible. Did you know that in my house the "S" word is not allowed. It is an evil thing. I hope not to see it this year but know I will. Stay warm Emily. Juno

Since you live in Oregon, and not L.A., I really didn't think it was so passe. We know how slow things are in Oregon, home of the banana slug and a mollusk called "duck." It was just a thought to cheer you through the long, damp, dreary Oregon winter, which some years lasts 10 months, I hear.

"Geoduck" A really tasty (although seriously ugly) clam.

"Its large, meaty siphon is prized for its savory flavor and crunchy texture. Geoduck is also regarded by some as an aphrodisiac." ;-)

Those of you who live in the desert must have a lot of water envy. So sad...

Thank you for that enlightening information. The next time I'm in the mood for a large meaty siphon with a crunchy texture, I hope I'll remember that.

How much water does a person need? I turn on the tap, water comes out. That's sufficient for my needs.

LOL! Do be sure you share it with your DH. ;->

You never have to flush? Or do you use that cute little building out back with the moon on the door? ;-P

No snow here in northern Indiana, but it was definitely the first day of winter.

And I still haven't darned my wool tights. I'd better give up hunting for the persian wool and use multiple strands of Medici.

I was thinking of you when I turned on weather channel yesterday, Emily!!!! I hope it's not too much of a mess down there.

I stayed in the house all day yesterday too. We didn't get snow, but it was COLD here. 15* in the morning. And only got up to a blistering 33*. Whoo hoo. Put on my wooly socks and wrapped a polar fleece throw around my shoulders like a shawl. Just could not get warm (and the furnace is working fine, I think it was in my head. lol) Today is better. Supposed to be in the 40's. But we did fall to 14* early this morning, breaking a record low temperature. These are not the records I would prefer breaking.

Guess it's winter, huh? Good thing the sewing room stays so warm. :)

I just want to know which good friend from alt.sewing sent me snow today. I told you it's not a nice word in my house and no one listened. I love you all, but you can keep the snow. Juno

Poor thing won't go down stairs, Sharon, so she wouldn't have gotten off the front porch. I hope she wasn't traumatized by being under the entertainment center for so long. I just don't know where to take her for therapy.

Then I guess there's no possibility of putting one in my birdbath.

*sigh* It looks so nice!

My sewing rom is much warmer than my bedroom. It and the living room have very high ceilings, but on this side of the house, the ceilings are "normal" height and on cold days, we can really tell the difference.

The snow is gone for the year, hopefully, but it is cold. Today's high was in the low 40s and will be the same tomorrow, since it is clear & sunny, with not a cloud to be seen.

I haven't gotten much done this week because I've developed a bad cold or flu-like symptoms, and I have not been outside very much, just the most necessary errands last weekend..

DS got home from Austin okay and thankfully, he was in the mood to cook spaghetti last night, so I took a nap while he cooked. I did the dishes though, as always.

I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Some of my family in New Orleans and along the MS Gulf Coast are upset with us because they believe we sent them snow intentionally; so if it went there, it didn't get to NY. A great-niece in CT wrote it was in the 60s there yesterday, but was expecting a change.

Yesterday was cool, I can live with cool. Have you noticed how everyone is in denial about sending this snow. It came from someplace. I know who I can blame but won't. Not Emily or Sharon or Joanne or Beverly. It was the invisible snow monster.Oh well, I'll survive. Have a good weekend everyone. Juno

I'm glad you have warm places to go to in your house, We are into the three layers of clothes to keep warm. We keep the thermostat at 68 most of the day but have to push it up to 69 in the evening to stay warm. It's amazing what you get use to. We use to keep the house at 74 but the 1973 oil thing started us keeping it cooler. Now if we set it over 70 we're both roasting
