For wire wrappers with deep pockets who need cabs

I'm sorry, I just don't buy that. It's up to you and your daughter, not to some total stranger, to dictate your own behavior and that which you will accept from people around you. Furthermore, anyone who would generalize their opinion of YOU from seeing HER has problems *nobody* can fix.

I wouldn't think so either. Apparently she has cause to differ.

Chris Cooper!

Most people didn't know his name until he won an Oscar last year.

I kinda think that the means have the ends wrapped up in them.

In the balancing act between profit and respect, she is going for profit. And maybe she isn't really noticing that the respect is missing. Yet.

But a day will come when her cleavage won't help her sell stones, and then she will regret not building a clientele that was interested in the quality of the actual merchandize ... more than in the merchandizing gimmick.

He's high on my list, too. But my list is so long, it would be impossible to pick a favorite.

I love the chameleon types, who change from role to role in ways that make you forget that this is an actor you're watching.

I like him a lot, and his name *is* familiar...

For quirky character-types, my favorite is Fyvush Finkel. He was the defense lawyer on Picket Fences on CBS several years back, and shows up from time to time in other things. He just makes me grin, every time I see him.

I also like Joe Pantoliano, who FINALLY has his own show coming up this fall! Woohoo!

Precisely. There is nothing worse than watching a movie with a famous actor and being unable to forget that he is an actor... or finding yourself thinking of them as a former character. Diana

Thank you -- but I couldn't have done it on my own; I've had a lot of help over the years to shake loose the fallacies in my own thinking. The definitions of "responsibility" and "control" are things about which I have a strong need to be very precise. It gets me in trouble sometimes.

Precisely. I don't blame Piers Anthony for writing schlock (Xanth), either -- it *sells*, and he has kids to put thru college! But that doesn't mean *I* will buy it.

I'm a big Chris Cooper fan, too! "Lone Star" is one of my all-time favorite movies. They're SO MUCH going on in that movie! And we just saw Seabiscuit last weekend. Wow.

As for other "oh THAT guy" types, I always enjoy Don Cheadle and Steve Zahn whenever they turn up.

Dh just went to the video store and I asked him to rent "Lone Star". His track record for coming home with what is requested is not good. Shall we take bets? I'm betting he'll go for "Adaptions", only because we haven't seen it yet.

I think our discussion is still reasonably intelligent. If I saw this woman walking down the street in what she's wearing, I wouldn't even give it a second thought. I might not even notice her. But this marketing strategy makes me wonder.....why? I think discussing that is fine. I've seen feeding frenzies before, and this does not seem that way to me. :)

Yeah. And, IMO, puns by their very nature are dependent upon literal interpretations of idiomatic expressions.

But that's all I've got to say about that. It's Monday. I'm way behind on stuff. I have an RCB GUEST coming today. I teach a class tomorrow morning. I seem to have forgotten how to make beads.

I have to agree that the trilogy was the best of the batch. I wont argue about the use of the word pun. :-) I think most people equate pun with plays on words.. which he is doing.. playing with words... Diana

You've just answered your own question. It's a strategy that's designed to make people talk, and when people talk, they look, and when they look, they sometimes buy. It generates traffic, which is one of the most difficult and valuable things for a business to accomplish.

It's simple, really. You can't do business with someone if you don't know they exist, can you? You better believe that just about everyone lurking in this newsgroup now knows that Teresa exists, and also knows the kind of things she sells, after this discussion :)
