OT: Help! I need a name!

Ok, we have a such a creative bunch, I need a new name for my new foster dog:

She's a 6 yr. old schnauzer, rescued from a puppy mill. She's pretty much terrified of everyone and everything. She's probably spent all her life in a crate, cranking out puppies. My precious little Brillo went to his new home today. I loved the couple that adopted him. I took Brillo out for a home visit and to meet their cat last week. The couple is retired, although the husband went back to work. The wife is home all the time. They lost their 14 yr. old dog about a year ago. I have no doubt that Brillo will be their new baby. I was ready to keep him for myself, but this was too good a home to turn down.

Ok, get those creative juices flowing and help me name my new girl!

I'm going to have to make a schnauzer bead of this one!

I would call her Sweetie.

Jerri, Have I told you lately just how awesome I think you are? =o) Yay for Brillo finding his forever home! Your new sweet little girl looks like a Gretchen to me. I'm sure she will come around once she discovers life beyond the crate.

Another idea is Esche, which is german for silver grey (unless Kathy contradicts me)

it is pronounced with a short e at hte beginning and a short a sound at the end.

She looks so much like a friend of mine's dog. They call her Muggles :-)

Just looking at that sweet face and knowing how you say she has been kept I would call her "Patience." It looks as if she has needed it in the past. If I lived near you I would take her in a flash.

I would love another dog but DH does not want one.

Thanks all,

We are having a fun time looking at these names. So far, we like

Spirit Willow Greta Gretchen

I like Muggles (especially being a Harry Potter fan) and Patience, but my DD said, "Patience is what she requires!"

Reminds me, I had a great aunt named Obedience. Was that wishful thinking on the part of my great grandparents, or what?

My DD also asked, "What's German for Scardey Cat?"

I've rescued a kennel dog before and knowing what her, and you, are going through to rehabilitate her, I'd go with Faith

Oh, I love that one too!! It's perfect for her!

I've seen a couple of other schnauzers come through the program that were just like her, and they did really well after a little TLC. We're hoping to see the same results with her.

Good luck with her... if you're like me at all, you'll end up keeping her. I had Beau for 12 years after I took him in, rescued him when he was almost 5, lost him just before he was 17. Have never known a dog as good and sweet as he turned out to be. And now I've lost my mind and have not 1, or even 2, but 4 parson russell terriers ruling my house lol.

When I looked at her picture, the name "Lucy" just jumped out. But, I am not the best pet namer.... My cats name is Missy (my mom named her), but we call her Piss Piss because when we brought her home, she pee'd in my SO's duffel bag. hehehehehe She hasn't done it since, but we still call her Piss Piss just the same.

I had another cat named Shitty Kitty, and her daughter we also kept and named PooPoo, but I called her Pooders. Like I said, we are not the best pet namers. *lmao*

Yes, if the vet care didn't get so expensive, I'd probably have 4 of my own instead of two. One of my boys is about 14-15 and just had to have surgery last week.

I like Hope, too!

Funny, I kept calling her Gracie, because in the last year, we've had a few schnauzers from puppy mills and two have them have been named Gracie. I love that name.
