WOW oh WOW oh WOW, thanks Fran!!!!!

Mike just came in with a box from the US.

When I saw it was from Fran at Deepwood Art I almost screamed. We don't go in for that sort of wild demonstrative behaviour here in the UK, but let me tell you guys that all my American upbringing almost won out.

I'm stunned. I'm in tears. They're SO beautiful, thank you Fran for being so generous as to have such a big giveaway and for letting me be in the Tupperware for the drawing. :-D

I'm going to get out my beads today and use these beads as the first step in making something and not stopping before I'm done. And then watch out the rest of you guys, I've got more lampwork and I'm not afraid to use it!

The packaging is so lovely, and now I have my own piece of Deepwood Art tape too. I can't stop smiling.

Wow.

-Su

We also got a new battery for the camera today, so photos when it's charged up..... until then just gallop over to Deepwood Art and see the beads there.

You lucky dog!

Can't wait to see what you do with those.

Heh! You say that and I can't help but think that Rick may be part English, since he's not prone to the wild and demonstrative, either!

One example: You can slave in the kitchen for an entire day, preparing the most labor intensive and succulent dish ever. Then you ask him how he likes it and he'll shrug and say something like, "It's pretty good," completely oblivious to the fact that some good, substantial feedback is required here!! Now, if he gets up for seconds,

*that's* the equivalent of screaming and fainting. Lol!

I'm SO glad you like them, Su!! It was my pleasure, believe me!! :)

That's just testosterone. It knows no national boundaries.

ROFL. Mike's like that. 'How was dinner, honey?' 'Fine'. I hate 'fine'. It's the worst word in the world. 'What do you want for dinner?' 'I'm not bothered.' Aaaarrrrrgggggggghhhhhhhhhh!

*still giggling*

I'm playing with all my bead stuff to find the right combination but I got distracted by the Olympics. I'm still miffed at the way the US and GB got robbed in the three-day eventing. Bettina Hoy may be good but the rules are the rules for everyone. Grrr.

Sorry, where were we? Beads. Oh yes. I can't wait till tonight so I can spread out all my beady stuff and mix and match till I'm exhausted.

I cured that for a while by making 'whatever'. He got tired of beans on toast after a while. The other choice is making something he dislikes for dinner, complete with dessert he hates. :-D

I think every man has to watch 'Roxanne' and pass a test before they can have another meal! I try to get my husband to watch it, and although he likes Steve Martin I can see the glazed look that can only be the result of testosterone poisoning come over his eyes once they get to the romantic parts of the movie.

Ah well. I've stopped making his favorite dinners, but it's been months now and he's not even noticed!

well, in my case, it involved teenagers instead of husbands. they made very heavy use of the expression during any disagreement. and the intonations they used made it even worse. however, when i turned the tables on them and started using it when they weren't expecting it, they backed off.

Yep. Unless it's preceded by the words, "Damn girl, you is", "fine" is a waste of time.

Moxley likes to say "Oh, wow!" if he likes what I've cooked. Now, that's gratifying!

I offer mine two choices. It goes something like, "I was thinking about corn chowder for dinner. Oh, or wait, I could make spaghetti! What do you think?"

He's very cooperative about actually picking one and sounding enthusiastic about it.

David wasn't. ask him a multiple choice question and you get an "okay".

What's gratifying to me is having Pete cook. Tacos, the old fashioned way. Salmon chowder. Pot roast and veggies in the covered roasting pan. Also gratifying is, when on the occasion of a meal that just doesn't quite work, he is still appreciative.

I hate that. Refusal to participate... and when you call them on it, they act as if your request is so trivial that you are ridiculous for expecting an answer.
