Just spoke with Ellice

Agreed - about once a year is enough! But DS liked it, so I've kept it around.

Yes - I should know, but my fingers slipped. We've seen Garnet at least eight times live. Once we were lucky enough to have the closest table to the stage at Hugh's Room in Toronto. We were so close that I could have reached out and touched him. And we used to belong to a folk club (The Vital Spark) where he usually played every year or so.

His wife raises horses so the songs such as Small Miracle come from real life.

My one regret is that I never saw Stan live. As someone who lives in Ontario, Stan's songs on White Squall really reach me.

And for those of you who don't know the story. Stan was one of Canada's greatest singer-songwriters whose life was tragically cut short in 1983 as he was returning from a folk festival in Texas. The plane he was in caught fire on the runway in (IIRC) Cincinnati.

Garnet had always played with Stan, and after Stan's death went on the road to fulfill the concert dates. He too has become a great singer-songwriter, and Nathan, Stan's son is well on the way to carrying on the traditional into the next generation.

Watch the video that Elizabeth has posted - they are wonderful. I get tears listening to Night Drive, and although I haven't "been a wife three times", I still think of "45 years" as 'our song'.

You might like some of the "Worms" other stuff such as "The Last Saskatchewan Pirate" or "Carrot Juice is Murder"
