I'm still here, still reading, still trying to recover from the wretched pneumonia, which slows me down a lot. No time or energy for recreational stitching at the moment, still working on a sweater for me which I have been knitting for over a year, and managed to make myself one new lightweight Fall outfit. Got to make just about a whole new wardrobe because of the steroids I had to take to get rid of the infection. Thanks for thinking of me.

Anyway, born and bred in Northeast England, married a local boy and moved to Montreal Canada a week later, then three years later to Northern Ohio. When the buckle fell off the Rust Belt, off to Tampa, Fl for ten years, then here to the Big Easy, always following the paycheck. Everywhere I go, someone says "You're not from here!" frequently in an accusing voice. (Oh, well.) My friends here recognise my English accent immediately, my friends and family in the U.K. tell me I sound very American. Go figure.

LOL. I hear the same thing. I came to the USA in 1961, for a one-year contract, met the late DH#1, and have been here, mostly, ever since. Even today in the supermarket I was asked where I came from; of course if I talk to a "real" Brit, they don't realise I am from Southern England.

Life is strange, isn't it??

aeromom here waving at y'all from deep in the heart of Texas! It's a chilly 37 degrees and mighty windy with a big old moon on this Christmas Eve Eve.

I have come to the conclusion that it isn't actually the accent, it hinges more on common expressions one uses. When I am in the UK I find I am vetting myself and not using expressions that do not travel.

Aeromom, that's what we've dealt with here in Wisconsin, is the darn wind. Branches down, siding off of some homes, waiting to read today's paper to see the report of the damage. We had almost 40 degrees for a bit, most of the snow is gone. Carol In WI
