I wonder what happened to Pirjo from Finland? She used to post quite a bit. However over the years many folk have drifted off. That's life, I guess; Sheena, don't Ruby and Mavia read anymore?

Ruby is in Hawaii with her daughter until February and I feel I shall 'phone Mavia if she doesn't sign in soon, it's unlike her but she is terribly busy with grandchildren.

It's a great thing, though likely the USA will sink by the time it is through lol

Poverty?

I've been doing research on one of the countries down that way and (a) less than 10% of the population have access to the internet, (b) they pay 10c per minute for internet access, which adds up fast. (I'm told a full-time housemaid or call center employee goes for $120/month, so even an hour of internet per month is 5% of their income.)

i love california where everything is close, but there's nothing like flying into manchester airport and, within 10 minues, being in the middle of the peaceful woods. i have the best of both worlds.

You're right Sheena, the grandkids are keeping us busy, especially over the holidays. One went home this afternoon and we brought the other back with us. He finally fell asleep around 9 PM! 4 1/2 and 6 year olds can tire you out! I'm ready for bed now myself!

You're a keeper Mavia ! I have my granddaughter and family coming today for turkey pot pie - the baby had a cold when I was last with them on Christmas Eve and like any seven month old that can't blow its nose, was unbearably grizzly. Xmas Day they were with his family, for which on the whole, we were truly thankful lol At least I think they are coming today, review the weather presently, I hear more snow and a deluge of rain, argggh !

I had an email from Ruby just before Xmas, complaining about getting a lot of rain...
