The last season of M*A*S*H was the only one I watched in real time. Until then, I was never home when it was on; I got hooked on it in the late-night reruns.

Then Channel 8 started running 2 episodes at 4 PM, at a point when I had a job where I had documents that took 3 hours to print, and couldn't use the computer for anything else while that was going on, so I got permission to bring in a little TV. And then started saving all my mindless busywork for the 4-5 PM hour, so I'd watch M*A*S*H every afternoon while stuffing envelopes, inserting business cards in brochures, etc.

The Mighty Ducks of Anaheim are about 500 miles south of me. Awful long commute for him to play on their rink.

I don't know if he'd be able to find a recreational hockey league around here. Though for a few weeks during the holidays, we do have an outdoor skating rink across from the mall, so he could still skate from Thanksgiving to MLK Day.

No, you have this picture wrong. You would be the Hockey Aunt who drove him back and forth as needed. Well between episodes of M*A*S*H

I like a lot of the non fiction type shows on your list. Antiques Roadshow, history, science and nature shows, Dirty Jobs etc. I like the extreme animal countdown show on Animal Planet. And travel shows.

I also have some weird facination with makeover shows even though I'm not into that for myself. So I watch what not to wear, the other one whose name I cant remember where two friends and a stylist critizize the poor person's style then buy them new cloths, and extreme makeover. And shows on HGTV about decorating and getting your house ready to sell. I'll watch those shows wearing sweats in the middle of my smallish cluttered house. LOL

Apart from that I like some of the reality shows. Survivor, and I'm watching Beauty and the Geek now. For awhile my daughter and I were watching America's Next Top Model and the Apprentice. Oh yes we watched that show about trying out for the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders on the Country Music Channel. Actually those cheerleaders are very hard working and athletic. I have some sort of sick facination about how they are all beautiful and the people are telling them they need to lose weight to make the team. I like the suspence about who will be cut next on those shows.

For drama I still watch the OC and Gilmore Girls. I started watching Friday Night Lights and like it. A lot of shows I just haven't tried or gotten into.

Now that we have TiVo, my husband is collecting Little House reruns and we watch those.

Of course I also watch sports on TV. I try to watch every Patriot game that I don't go to myself and catch many of the Red Sox games. My husband is a big football fan and will watch football all day but I can't do that. I just stick to watching the Pats. TiVo and DVR are great for that. You can watch a football or baseball game much faster fast forwarding through commercials and dead time. Now I routinly start watching a football game about an hour after it starts so I can fast forward through commercials. Sometimes I watch baseball in fast motion then back up if something exciting happens. Occaisonal Bruins and Celtics games but I'm not as good a fan for those sports. I like watching hockey in high definition. Of course I'll watch the Super Bowl!

We pay about $23 a month for our big dish & watch very little network TV. We watch our local NBC news/weather (the only local station we get here in our box canyon) and tape the Tonight Show so I can watch it the next evening while eating dinner. Other than that, we spend most of our TV hours with Turner Classic Movies, Fox Movie Channel, History International, National Geographic and the Science Channel. We both love "How It's Made", from the Science Channel, I think. Once in a while I'll catch BBC America, but the last show I watched regularly was the one where they gave young men a choice between going to jail or going to a 1950s style boot camp. We used to watch TV Land, when it was free and mostly old black and white shows or early type, like Adam 12 or Dragnet. When they started adding shows that we didn't watch when they were new, in the 80s or 90s.

What I really miss are the variety shows that I watched after school while growing up at home, and "shorts" like the Little Rascals or Three Stooges.

We do have our own set of Rocky and Bullwinkle videos. :-)) DH bought them for me many years ago and re-taped them all one one long playing tape so I can watch them when I'm sick without having to get up out of the chair every half hour. I also have a Benie and Cecil DVD that REALLY ages me. It's not all cartoon, it has a couple of episodes and talks about Bob Clampett and some of his other artwork.

I think the last network shows DH & I made a point to watch were Cosby and, before that, Mork and Mindy when we were first dating. I liked the Tracy (somebody) show a couple of years ago where the main character had a wife & two young boys and owned his own auto garage. Unfortunately, it probably wasn't violent or stupid enough & the kids weren't brats so the show didn't last very long. Liz from Humbug Liz from Humbug

We just adore SportsNight, have the DVDs for that, and for the first 3 seasons of West Wing. Hence, our love for Studio 60 as well.

I'll admit a sneaky love of the British version of What Not to Wear. Tried the US copy once and didn't like it.

Which one do you have, Cheryl? I'm hearing some ugly rumors about baseball that might mean I have to go to Direct TV.

I love those, too. Tempting to get the Midsomer Murders DVDs.

Agreed. I kind of miss Ballykissangel.

Good choices for the old classics. Don't do much with the romances or sci fi nowadays. Though I have been watching the new Doctor Who. There's lots to like with the Sharpe series.

Here - we love Boston Legal - it's such a great picture of the legal profession - in the high priced range. And the acting is great. Very funny. Watch ER. The Law and Orders - regular and CI, not crazy about SVU. Watch the CSIs. But we don't go out of our way for any of those. We do avidly watch the Bravo competitions - Top Chef, Project Runway.

And a lot of PBS & National Geographic. DH loves mythbusters, and we check out a lot of the history and things like Extreme Engineering or Modern Marvels. Lately I've caught some of the Naked Archaelogist - nice series. We actually aren't home that much to watch TV - and mostly it's what is on late or while I'm puttering about. Here, the Maryland PBS station has "afternoon Tea" which is a few hours of Britcoms - some old, some not so old. I tend to watch that if I'm around the house.

Don't do any reality shows - except the Bravo ones like Top Chef.

I don't think she bothers me so much. We like Gary Sinise - great actor, and Flack - who played Jim Craig in the movie "Miracle" and was for that the hottest hockey goalie ever (besides my DH of course - hah). LOL about the sunglasses of justice. We watch that at times, mostly so I can laugh at the geographic splicing all over the Miami area. FWIW - if you live in Sfla - it is really important to wear sunglasses (of justice or not) pretty much all the time. People have done enormous damage to their eyes by not doing so - the sun is really bright, and reflections off your car hood when driving can be quite damaging.

NCIS is one of those things for us that we know too much about reality to deal with that show which is way too far from it. And again - there is that great geographic splicing.

How do you watch this? I tried - really wanted to like it, but it always seems to have wooden acting and gets too simple - like a bad version of Quincy....

Wow - Sports Night - I had forgotten about that. Great series - we have some friends/acquaintances who actually work at ESPN, and they loved it - as in too true.

Kids in the Hall - that was good. We have a couple of Canadian channels on our digi cable here. But nothing really thrilling. I do watch DaVinci's Inquest - that's pretty good.

I'm pretty sure there is hockey in the Sacramento area. The Pacific District for USA Hockey evidently has an office in Sacramento. This long link off the USAH site puts you there - just FYI.

of hockey in California - a lot of which has come from the roller sideinto ice as well.

I didn't like the original American version, but then IIRC last year they changed to the current hosts and I really like it. They do their homework, and come up with some great stuff. What's interesting is that they have people shop in a variety of price ranges - showing how to mix in H&M with high end stuff. So, I'll admit to that addiction.

I don't watch NCIS, so I don't know for certain, but I hear from people who do watch it that they also like Bones on FOX. Mat Roush from TV Guide also compres them favorably. If you're looking for something to watch along the same lines you might want to give Bones a try.

Cold Case is another one in that same kind of dry, droll vein. I usually try to watch that one.
