Off topic - what do you watch

Oh good - I'm not alone - don't like the reality shows either - and can't find any "comedy" that's funny. Daily Show with Jon Stewart being the exception because he's just so smart and sarcastic! I do watch certain cooking shows and some home remodeling. I like the food from Ina Garten, Curtis Stone, Jamie Oliver and Tyler Florence...can't stand Emeril or Bobby Flay or those too impressed with themselves. We do watch all the CSIs and Numb3rs and Bones - I read all of Kathy Reichs' books before the show was on the air. Other than that I'd rather watch a movie - don't care about Survivors or races or Idols.....read a book instead :)

But it's creamed - kind of a creamy gravy thing. Homemade it can be tasty - but from the can - yuck. My dad had quite the fondness for telling stories of K-rations, and SOS. Especially a Jewish boy from Brooklyn & Miami Beach

- he did part of his Army Airs Corps training in Biloxi Mississippi - and had SOS a lot, as well as Rattlesnake steak. Then he shipped off, and spent the end of the war, and just post in then India (in Karachi - now in Pakistan, and also Calcutta).

Hey - candles in the shower - silly. Candles in the "bath" area not so - especially if you have a nice soaking tub with garden windows, etc. And, if you're a good girl and come visit - might even let you try out the whirlpool. It's really, really relaxing - just the low light, and some candles - honestly.

Excellent - he really looked good in the face. And the body was hysterical. Loved him and Denny Crane dancing...

Medium - I used to like it, but sometimes I think it gets toooooo predictable and the acting a bit wooden. Comes and goes, IMO.

DH really likes my name is Earl - but it's a bit too something for me. I've always had a problem with comedy that I term "stupid" as in the way too avoid the situation, or whatever is patently obvious - it hits my impatient switch.

Too bad that you can't get a PBS station - that helps a lot on the weekend.

Well, at least you'll be able to watch your tapes of the doubled up time slots this weekend!

I recently discovered Time Team here on Tuesday evenings. I have no idea how long it has been running. I really enjoy it. :)

Bye for now.

Yes Bruce, but most people in the UK have to pay for a licence for their TV sets. We can have as many sets as we like per household, and

*no* licence fee. Personally I will cope with the commercials, and have a little more cash in my pocket.

It's worth paying the fee to have BBC and thus be free of those b****y adverts

Well, we've got at least one other on board, and DH has bowed out and will be watching the kids, so I'll be carting at least two of us up there, with perhaps more to come. So, feel free to join us if you like. We'll be there with bells on. So far, the other confirmed attendee is stitchy as well (and also a UMich alum who knew Dave Way Back When).

Take care, Ericka

I don't think there is any problem with DVDs - not like the issues in the past with the cycle differences and videotapes (PAL vs NTSC). After all, CDs play on either side of the pond. Difference in how the machines work vs the old tape things.

There are DVD "regions" and there is a map at

but it is not much use to me as I am colour blind! Region 0 is, I think, world-wide and region 2 is Europe. But I think if you ask around you will find that DVD players can be "adapted" to play almost any region's DVDs.

My geeky guys tell me it is easy to alter ones DVD player to eliminate the plays only NA DVDs etc. They all play all of them but are set to only play some, if you get what I mean. No, I don't know how but one of them said next time he is here, he will do mine and I will pay close attention.

My computer will play ones from other regions, but only five times per DVD before it will lock that video out. I haven't modified it so I'm certain I could adjust the software to allow it all the time.
