Off topic - what do you watch

Looks like a keeper; Wedgewood, ship building, monasteries. That's enough variety for me.

I could see digging up an ironworks every week getting stale very quickly.

Holy missed that one completely. And we've recently rewatched all the Sliders episodes and were mentioning we never see her in anything.

Sliders -- that's one I always enjoyed too -- well, nearly always.

Sliders was another one that was good until TIIC decided to "improve" it into unwatchable.

"Lucille" ,in rec.crafts.textiles.needleworkwrote: and entertained us with

Moi aussi - I saw about five minutes of a Survivor (first series with the Richard creep) that someone asked me to tape for them and failed to 'get it' in the least.

My non-watching of television really started with the advent of that type of genre. Terrible, terrible and all those gd laugh tracks - what do they think ? That people need to be told when to laugh ??

I did love that show. My SILs Step-brother worked for ESPN, on Sportscenter in the 90s. Anyhow - one of the most infamous for real things that happened

- Steve Levy was one of the guys dong the back at the studio live read during a football game. Keith Oberman was in the studio - evidently watching by the cameras. During one of those live game breaks when they tell you some chat Levy is doing his thing and proceeds to say "M---- R----- will be out for unknown time with a bulging dick..." and continues on. About 10 secs later realises what he said, turns red, starts babbling about "meaning bulging disc" - and of course they cut to commercial. Evidently it was hilarious in the studio, they kept a tape, Oberman went nuts with it, and have shown this occasionally on blooper type things - and to drive Steve crazy. FWIW, having met Steve on several occasions (when I was younger and lovely so to speak) he is known as a "hound" . But, the "bulging dick" episode lives on in sportscast lore. Oh, the SIL's StB was on the production crew that night, so he actually had a copy of the tape.

We've seen it a few times - hilarious. I think it was a Jets game - DH remembered - some running back or other out with a bulging disc back injury.

I never watched Survivor either. Or Fear Factor. Or the Amazing Race. Only reality shows I watch are Project Runway and Top Chef.

And no laugh track - one reason why Sports Night was so great. That's why I watch Scrubs - no laugh track. And besides, Zach Braff is such a cutie.

Strangely, I quite enjoy Survivor. It is interesting seeing who can accept the hardships, and who are the lazy whiners. I also enjoy seeing the places where they are exiled.......a mini-travelogue. Other than that, the usual CSI, NCIS, Criminal Minds etc. Will be glad when Jericho returns, the first season left me with a lot of unanswered questions. We used to enjoy the Sopranos on HBO, despite the language and violence, it was a well-acted show.

Comedies, virtually none. Two and a Half men is slightly giggle-worthy, mainly because of the kid.

Loathe, hate and despise I Love Lucy, and all the shows of that era. I will not watch them now, either. We also could care less about football, baseball and basketball.

Now that I have proved we are both unAmerican in TV watching, I think I will unload the dishwasher, and fondle floss! LOL

Except for the Survivor part, I agree with nearly all of what you say. If that makes me unAmerican in TV watching, so be it.

Someone reminded me about Project Runway and that's one of the two reality shows I do watch. The other one is Iron Chef. It's such fun to see them do such creative cooking using such exotic ingredients. Especially since I'm a broil it or bake it kind of unimaginative cook.

Memories of the Kent State Folk Festival came racing back. When I attended they'd hold the two main concerts in the old Auditorium. Built back when they still used horsehair to stuff the seats, no air moved, but the music was so great you didn't mind.

Last one I attended Arlo Gutherie was in concert, with his son's band as the opening act.

Thanks for the link Sue!!

Can't miss shows for me are: Battlestar Galactica; NCIS, Boston Legal (I love a show that knows it's just a TV show), and Law & Order (original).

I'll watch the CSI's from time to time, but tend to yell at them that they are doing stuff wrong. I mean, walking thru a murder scene without covering your shoes? Moving debris aside *before* taking your first picture? Dumb Dumb Dumb!

I either have Radio 4 or Classic FM playing all night! (Mainly to drown out the various sounds - snoring - singing - laughing - from the DH! At least I have something worth listening to and since he`s nearly totally deaf without his "bionic ears" it doesn`t disturb him. I recorded him one night and when I played it back he said "I wonder you don`t have me SHOT!!!"

At least he seems perfectly happy, judging by the singing and chuckling! Maybe if he wasn`t so deaf he`s wake himself up!

Times have changed. Old Aud. has been remodeled and is quite lovely. The Folk Festival, however, has moved downtown. The old movie theatre on Main is now the Kent Stage

and features most of the concerts. So if you ever make the trip back you'll know what's what!
