Off topic - what do you watch

I like Cold Case, and Without a Trace. But, I don't think we watch either of them very often. Except for the reruns on TNT or such. But, for droll and interesting characters - I really like "the Closer" on TNT. Has Kyra Sedgewick as the main character - for some reason this show strikes me as the LA version of a Margaret Maron book. It's good, and quirky - the Kyra Sedgewick character is definitely a complex personality - who is completely addicted to candy bars - which makes for some funny parts in the shows. I also like Monk - but don't watch it too often. Also, the Dead Zone - hard to believe that Anthony Michael Hall - the dweebie kid in Sixteen Candles grew up into that kind of hunky guy (if you go for blondes).

I forgot all about The Closer. I forget to watch it, but when I do I think it's definitely one of the better shows I've seen in a long time. I just wish I could remember that it's on.

Monk I'm so-so about. Sometimes it's good and sometimes it's so over the top that it's silly.

I like that one too. Drive Through History and Meet the Ancestors are good too. History International used have Time Team which I adored. There was also this great show, Hot Rocks, about the effect of geology on civilization.

I should be so lucky instead of 3 PBS stations of kid shows.

Works for me. Just warn me enough in advance that I can lay in a supply of appropriate food: a river of liver and an ocean of fish, Spam, and, of course, sh** on a shingle. :)

I wonder how many of us here recognize the line a river of liver and an ocean of fish and who said it and why ??

Do you think we're the only two?

I like "The Closer", too. We don't have cable, but a friend who's nuts about it lent me the DVDs of the first season and has taped several episodes of last season and shared 'em. Good stuff.

I watched the first episode of "Bones" because I'm a fan of the Kathy Reichs mysteries they're based on, but the TV show is SO far from the books, I couldn't stand it!

How many watched "Jane Eyre" on Masterpiece Theater last week? Now

*that* was outstanding TV. I'm also looking forward to the Sally Lockhardt movies...the books are terrific. (For all of you who enjoy YA books - check out that series by Phillip Pullman!)

I'm anxious to rent the DVDs for the final season of "Six Feet Under." Really enjoyed that show - some seasons more than others, though.

Watched season 1 of "Battlestar Galactica" on DVD, and it was good. I have to borrow season 2 from DD.

And I found FOUR videos of the Sharpe series at the library (used) for $5! So I can enjoy them anytime!

A great line from the series (M*A*S*H) where Hawkeye melts down over the mess hall menu.

Too long ago for this highly disenthused TV person! If the damn thing broke, and it were up to me, it would never be replaced!

Tried so hard to like Studio 60 but it's just so dull. And then there's Harriet, who is the worst of the lot -- and her supposed 'great love affair' with Matt is so unbelievable and implausible, it's downright painful.

Even the super-weak Jordan is more watchable.

And its such a shame. The premise was great but they just aren't executing.

I liked that initially but then it turned into soap opera about the cops personal lives. I lost interest pretty soon after that. Same as Without a Trace.

We have basic cable so only have access to network shows.

Cold Case Without a Trace Special Victims' Unit CSI Shark Numbers

And in the summer, Last Comic Standing and Dancing with the Stars.

I agree that it's not as good as West Wing (Sorkin's seasons at least), but then I didn't think West Wing was as good as SportsNight.

My favorite SportsNight episode was the one where one of the guys kept saying "I'm just going to show up and see what happens." It was great!
