Thanks, Mirjam - it appears that the four explosions (three on the tube, one on a bus) were just detonators, only one person injured.

I imagine it was done just to prove that they still COULD, and to create as much disruption as possible.

Let me ask you a question Pat. If you were a Muslim living in the UK over the next little while, would you feel safe?

that was my first thought but several experts have pointed out that by doing that, for very limited effect they have left vital evidence behind.

I suppose we'll know soon enough. Either way, I have to say the most appropriate comment I've seen was the headline on a UK paper. "B*st*rds!"

I`d like to think so, Jim, but not being one, I can`t tell, particularly as I`m not in a part of the country that has much evidence of racial animosity. Our main town is pretty overcrowded with immigrants, as I`ve said before, and you feel uneasy there at times, but it`s not like living in London, Leicester, Birmingham, etc., so I can`t really say. I know that there have been some attacks on mosques up North.

I think you`d have to find an actual Muslim to ask that question! You only see the ones on television, who have mixed opinions on that one, but anyone on TV is always a suspect for exaggeration!

I was disgusted today that the newscaster sounded actually DISAPPOINTED that there wasn`t the carnage that there was earlier this month! It looks as if we were very lucky on this occasion, though - strange that ALL the bombs (if they actually were bombs and not just the detonators) misfired. It all seems rather odd - and I assumed that it was just done to cause fear and chaos, and to demonstrate that we don`t have a hope in hell against suicide bombers! If they were real bombs, it`s nothing short of a miracle that we weren`t mourning 50 more people today.

It did demonstrate how the emergency services, once again, were superbly "on the ball", I`m glad to say. I don`t think I`d be too keen to go through London for a while, if I didn`t have to, though - and Carolyn Potts is coming over in a few weeks time, with her daughter and grand daughter, so I`m worried about them, too.

Too true! Let`s hope they DID leave plenty of evidence behind, but unfortunately there will always be plenty more to take over. Why on earth, if we KNOW that 3000 Muslims go off to Pakistan or Afghanistan on Al Quaeda training, do we ever let them back into the country beats me!

Just seen the ten o`clock news in which they said that the four devices WERE home-made bombs which failed to go off properly.

They still have to find out if they are of the same composition of those earlier in the month, and did they fail to go off because they deteriorate over time?

Whatever the answer, London sure had a lucky escape today.

Armed Police just shot a man at Stockwell Tube Station, and an East London Mosque is surrounded by armed Police.
