OT:Met Fred in Winnipeg

Hi everyone! For some weird reason the laptop produced tonight, since my last post at the beginning of the month, had to catch as could at internet cafe's etc.

I met Dawne in Regina going out to British Columbia - I think we jabbered on for about four hours, it was so lovely to see her. On the way back in Winnipeg Fred came by and guided us to Mrs. Twitchets and then on to another LNS that had what I wanted, plus I bought a Fred Frame I did not exactly need, but had to have when I saw how lovely the wood was and how well it would hold work of any size, a frame only a stitcher could come up with lol

Chilkoot is immense but soft and cuddly - well of course - Fred was too! Unfortunately I wrecked up with meeting Joan in Grand Forks. I have tried to send you emails Joan but have something wrong with the addy I think, they get bounced. I even tried phoning at Grand Forks, "Doug & Joan Erickson" in the book, but no answer. Fred searched for a phone number for me before I left Winnipeg but no luck. So sorry about that Joan, such a shame.

So sometime in the next week we will be in New England and shall meet up in Kittery with Dr Brat and Cheryl, that should be fun lol

Currently we are in Massey, Ontario about 45k from Sudbury having crossed back in at SSM after running through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. We have been hitting the road somewhat to get some k's done so we have time to spare for Kittery etc.

Hope you have all been behaving on rctn in your usual exemplary manner - I just know calmness has prevailed lolol

Bye for now, Sheena

So nice to see you're back with us and that you haven't changed one bit. One would think with all that driving and sightseeing, a person would be just a bit more mellow, but not our Sheena. .I just got home from a show featuring an over the hill comedienne and a slightly off-key singer and I'm so happy to see that you're alive and well and having a wonderful trip.

I am glad to see you were out and enjoying a show, even if the actors left a bit to be desired.

I am just trying to decide if I can bear to wait until the rest of the folder of pics I sent to gmail actually get sent. With dial up, I reckon that at the rate it is going 5 % in 7 minutes I can wait that long. On the other hand, the air conditioner is not coping well, it is hotter than hell and I don't think I can sleep either. Such a decision, wait for it to leave for gmail, drink more red wine, or just turn it off and try to sleep.

We have tried everything, opening all windows etc and then shutting them and firing up the air conditioner, not much to pick between them, just have to live with it.

Motel air conditioners are usually a lost cause when it comes to being efficient. I think it's a built in problem to make sure people don't stay too long and mess up the rooms too much. It's been hot all over the country and even in my house, with pretty good central air, it's been a struggle to keep up with the heat. I really think this has been the hottest summer in a long time.

Oh well, this too shall pass !!!

Drink more wine and get a good night's sleep. You deserve it, what with all that driving.

Yes, that is a shame! I didn't think of it until after you'd lost internet access but I should have given you my phone numbers DUH! (DH isn't Doug :) ). Strange that my addy bounced...I've never munged it!

Depending on what day you were through here, I may not have been around since DD was in the horse show at the state fair out west Thurs-Sat. I guess it just wasn't meant to be this time. Did you at least make it to Nordic Needle?

Maybe next time we'll be a bit more organized???? :)

At least you got to meet Fred and 'Koot, lucky you! I haven't yet had the pleasure. And to possess one of his frames.....I'm jealous!

I feel better now - we were through on Thursday. We went on to Grand Rapids for the night in the end.

The frame is fabulous, when I am home and with my good computer I shall wax lyrical about it, I feel it is a hard thing to describe, it is the ease with which you can put your work in and out of it, plus the ease with which you can adjust to the size of the work and then on top of that, it is lovely wood.

You should drive halfway to Winnipeg and Fred halfway to Grand Forks and voila!

Cheers, Sheena - currently in Belleville, Ontario and about to zoom up the

401 tomorrow and cross into New Hampshire.

Not too much zooming for you Sheena. A nice, leisurely drive would be better to assure you no tickets. Say hello for me to anyone and everyone you meet.

I met someone today who worked with the Ontario Police and he said they are not bothering with people 10k over, they are after the 140-160k people. I believe it increases to 100k on the 401 so 110 will be okay. What a relief. I have paid for that ticket a million times over lol

Hope all is well with you and Puff, give him a pat for me

YES!!! Fred's frames are a thing of unmatched beauty. I grew up with fanatic woodworkers, and when I took mine out of the package, I about swooned with the precision and smoothness.

Aye Karen,

If you think my fabric mounts have precision and smoothness you should see my new 5 in Wonder floor stand that's being prototyped. Does something made out of Cherry Wood make you drool??LOL

BTW I owe you a few emails - trying to get caught up is next to impossible in this heat.

Heat? You don't know from heat. We had 107 last weekend, and 105 this weekend.

Karen, just cuz we live in the northern part of the continent doesn't mean we don't get heat!!! :)))) It was in the upper 90s late last week and we usually hit a couple of over-100 days in the summer, not to mention when it *is* that hot, we usually have the high humidity to go with it. Just the thought of it makes me tired! :) Granted, we don't usually have long stretches of over-100 temps like you often do but the upper-90s-stretches are darned close and just as bad!
