OT: Musings on the London bombings.

I realize that the UK authorities have not yet stated that thebombings in London were done by Muslims, but there are certainly strongindications that this is the case. My impression is that the culture thatderives from being brought up in a Muslim religion, is one of malechauvenistic domination, and tribal loyalties - "I and my brothers againstmy cousins; I and my cousins against the world." In Western style democracies we are taught that we must spy on ourneighbours, and cooperate with law enforcement agencies to prevent crimesbeing committed; or help the police catch the criminals by reportinganything we know; "Crime Stoppers" for example. This approach has not inthe past, so far as I can see, developed in Muslim communities living inwestern democracies; Muslim authorities tend to discourage their membersfrom spying on each other, and reporting things to the police. In the light of the London bombings, many Muslim communities havebeen quick to condemn what has happened. But words are cheap. Has anyoneseen any reports, from either the law enforcement agencies, or the Muslimcommunities, of where Muslims are either actively cooperating with thepolice in spying on their brethern, or are encouraging each other to do so?--Jim Cripwell. Talking about sheer stuidity. On the news today we were told that the London bombs were made from easily available cleaning products - and then, if you please, were actually told what these products were! I notice that that extra piece of information was left out of later reports.

Neither do I - and I deliberately didn`t mention the actual products. Can you IMAGINE what could happen if kids heard the actual product and decided to experiment (as kids do!)

Household cleaning products? Doesn't every housewife in the world know about ammonia and bleach? I mean, NEVER mix them together! Knew a guy once who thought that would be a dandy way to clean some grotty bathroom tile. He made it to the local ER in the nick of time.

For lots of fizz and a lot of CO2, there's always baking soda and vinegar. (Fun to use to clear drains!)

Hmm, what other weapons of muss destruction lurk beneath our sinks?
