OT: Wedding report (for Jim).

She wouldn`t even meet their eye, would she? And said not a word to them before dashing off to watch the Grand National on tv! Apparently, when she made her speech at the reception, she said she had a very important announcement to make - "Hedgehunter won the National!". LOL!

It was a Russian Contralto singing the Creed in Russian. I have a recording of it somewhere sung by the Russian Army Choir.

Did you see a close up of it? Beautiful embroidery right across the back and shoulders of that coat.

When my grandchildren marry, they better not do it on a day that clashes with a bridge tournament etc. Nothing abnormal about that, to me it shows her human side. She is well respected in racing circles, she does not just own horses, she is well known as having bred excellent horses. Probably more successfully than her children.

Prince Charles was driving around his mother's estate when he accidentally ran over her favorite dog, a corgi, crushing it to a pulp. He got out of his Range Rover and sat down on the grass totally distraught. The whole world was against him and now his mother would go ballistic.

Suddenly he noticed a lamp half-buried in the ground. He dug it up, polished it and immediately a genie appeared. 'You have freed me from thousands of years of imprisonment,' said the genie. 'As a reward I shall grant you one wish.' 'Well,' said the Prince, 'I have all the material things I need, but let me show you this dog.' They walk over to the splattered remains of the dog. 'Do you think you could bring this dog back to life for me?' the Prince asked. The genie carefully looked at the remains and shook his head. 'This body is too far gone for even me to bring it back to life. Is there something else you would like?' The Prince thought for a minute, reached into his pocket and pulled out two photos. 'I was married to this beautiful woman called Diana,' said Prince Charles, showing the genie the first photo. 'But now I love this woman called Camilla,' and he showed the genie the second photo. 'You see Camilla isn't beautiful at all, so do you think you can make Camilla as beautiful as Diana?' The genie studied the two photographs and after a few minutes said, 'Let's have a look at that dog again.'

I went to hear/see the Russian Army Choir when they came to Wolfville in NS. They were fantastic - when they sang O Canada there was not a dry eye in the house, talk about putting emotion into it and when they sang the old Soviet anthem, phew! Too bad they threw that anthem out with the politicos, it was stirring to say the least.

Whatever it was - it was horrible - it sounded more for a funeral than a wedding ....... hmmmmmmmmm

I think it was the colour - what was that colour anyway? Grey? The style was quite nice, the embroidery was exquisite and it looked very nice flowing in the wind as they were leaving the church. I just think she looks so much better in 'colours'. That's just me.

I`m inclined to agree with you there, about it being funereal. Nice voice (just like my Mum`s) but it sounded MUCH better sung by the Red Army choir!

That`s so unfair, Gill. At least she had the guts to stand up to the Royals in the end, which is more than her husband ever did.

They were asking people in Ballater (near Balmoral) what they thought - some were pretty sanguine about it. One old boy said that it was a shame that they didn`t do it thirty years ago and save an awful lot of trouble! (And ill feeling).

"I will with God's help" is a pretty standard form of making a promise in Anglican services, acknowledging that we humans alone do not always have the power to do what we intend to do, whatever our intentions. There is a confirmation service at my parish this morning, and that wording will be used for the renewal of baptismal vows that we will make during the service. The reference to "our manifold sins and wickedness" is also pretty standard--it is what I confess every week (and will this morning), along with every Canadian Anglican who attends communion. It wasn't specially for Charles and Camilla. Dawne

I am looking forward to seeing better photographs of the second dress--the commentary mentioned how it was hand embroidered with umpteen metres of gold thread, and I would like to see that. Dawne

Well one could always say there will always be another bridge tournament, but then of course there might also be another wedding. LOL! Ruby

You know, Pat, I feel the same way about Diana as you do about Charles. Have never liked her, and thought she was very self-centered and self-serving. Actually, she reminds me of my mother-in-law!!LOL. It is a good thing we can all have our own opinions, and, to be honest, all we really know is what has been presented to us by the media, gossip-writers etc. None of us has sat down and had a good chin-wag with either of them.

Yes, it is a rotten shame they didn't marry thirty years ago; it is an interesting thought wondering what they and their kids would be like now.
