OT: Wedding report (for Jim).

I am glad you pointed that out, Dawns. I was telling DH and MIL last night that those phrases were a routine part of the Church service. I remember saying them in my earlier church-going years.

Come on, now, horses are beautiful creatures - which is more than can be said for most of her kids!

I have heard that some think they should bring it back with a few alterations.

I wonder if the RSN did it for her? They did the dress for Fergie's wedding and I felt her train, with their initials entwined on it, was a thing of beauty.

Diana of course, as we all know, opted for some new designer who designed her a real lemon.

As I said, I only saw the part where Camilla went into the Guildhall. I thought she looked, as most brides do on their wedding day, very nice. A suitable outfit for a woman her age and figure, and I loved the hat. Just the sort of thing I used to wear myself many moons ago to diplomatic and naval do's. There is something special about one of those big hats. Good for her. I commend her dignity in not spilling her guts to the media, for keeping her own counsel and I believe, as the years pass if she continues like this, people will come to respect her. She is as much a victim of the circumstances as it is purported Diana was.

No I didn't but I did make an issue that night, much to Davids dismay. The Feds of the day, liberals, had made some boob with the seats and we were asked if we would retire to the rear so Mitchell Sharp and some others could have our seats. I had booked the minute the tickets became available and they were expensive, but we had front row seats, so I said no. It blindsided them, they really thought we would cave and they looked shocked.

So there we sat, in majesty, with the big wigs behind us. Must have galled them to see three kids ahead of them lol

I'm with you Gillian. I found Diana an effete and silly girl. Whatever, that is in the past and if nothing else, one could say, Charles and Camilla have been faithful to each other.

I wish them well, as I would any other couple on the second time around, there are so many of those today!

Yes, I was just checking in my mothers Book of Common Prayer, Hymns Ancient and Modern, which was given to her in 1921, and that prayer, an act of General Confession, was right there. I can remember, like you when it was generally said in church, as was the Creed, so nothing unusual there.

I was only able to glance up at the events, because Jim and I were controlling Amateur Radio communications on a 150 mile fund-raising bike ride between Tampa, Orlando and back!. With four repeaters talking to us both, we didn't need extra commentary. Of course, I looked at the screen when I could, and loved the elegance of the outfit she wore for the blessing. It was a sort of happy half-way. Very suitable. The hat.......well, the wind didn't help. At her age, and with her upbringing and surroundings, she knows what is correct, socially, and what is not. From our press, they were a bit nervous. I look on that as a good thing!!

I am happy that they are happy, and god bless them both. Gillian

I think it was part of the Nicene Crede and General Confession.. Believe it or not, I actually taught church history and the sacraments to High School kids, when my youngsters werwe tiny!! I enjoyed the challenge, because I stayed a tad ahead of them. I was very surprised that so many sacraments "we" Episcopalians/Anglicans respect are the same as in Roman Catholicism. I am going back 35-40 years.

I STILL do not know where I stand with religion. The older I get, the more sceptical. My mother was the reverse, and was confirmwed into the C of E at 70!!

Being on the upper end here, I have given it due thought. All I can think is I have lived my life trying to consider others, trying to help others etc. and standing up for the downtrodden. I don't believe there is a God but if when I die, there is, then I shall give him a mouthful about how I think he cast a woman's lot in life and that it is past time he rethink his attitude. Then when I am sent to hell, well, prolly I will meet the rest of you there lol

No she wasn`t, you daft bat! How on earth can you say that? She was one of the prime instigators of the tragedy. I only hope she suffers as much misery as she caused Diana!

That is your opinion and I reserve the right to have mine. You make it sound as if this was the only marriage that ended badly. Over fifty percent end badly today. Charles and Diana were no exception.

He is now moving on to a second marriage and I wish him well, also Camilla. Before you say Diana is dead, that was nothing of Charles doing, she turned down good security and opted to put her fate - with dire consequences - in the hands of her lover and his father. Wrong option, yet again.

I'm probably putting my foot in my mouth again, but I must ask anyway. Has it ever occurred to you that if there's a God, that being might be a woman? Lucille

I still have to believe that energy, per se, doesn't just evolve and disappear. Therefore, at death our energy does something. Darned if I know what. ERGO, I think I will be a firefly flying up the nose of all politicians with whom I disagree!!
