I can get it OK, Maureen. Of course it could just be your server.

To bring everyone up to date, DH took our computer in to the shop to have a new H/D put in. This machine was so full of viruses that AFTER the repair guy got rid of them all with conventional programs, he did a manual check and removed over a hundred other viruses. Why this machine was even running was anybody's guess. Unfortunately the repair guy had to remove ALL our programs, so we lost it all, M.S. Office, bookmarks, saved sites, Netscape, Explorer, all of it. But I'm back now, virus free, and able to connect to R.C.T.N.!!! :)) And able to connect to Tiag! And yes, Shaw IS our server. :(

I hope you didn't lose your data! Programs can always be reinstalled. Losing bookmarks and email can be a pain, but no irreparable damage. Sounds like they reformatted the drive. We reformat ours every year or so. Which means reloading all the programs. :-( Not because of viruses, but because Windows just gets corrupted through time.

'Fraid so. We lost everything. The repair guy said he saved just about everything and put it on D drive. But when he went to retrieve it, D drive was empty. It's gone! Data, folders, address books, bookmarks, MY NEEDLEPOINT CHARTS!!! And all the programs had to be reinstalled. It's tantamount to having a brand new computer with nothing on it. The worst of it is that I had Photoshop 7 on here. It's what I use to merge photos for my charts. But the CD went astray when we moved, so now I have nothing. :(. What was learned from this? MAKE BACK-UP COPIES OF EVERYTHING ON YOUR COMPUTER!!

You might want to check on Ebay to replace the Photoshop 7. Just saw this ad from someone in Britain, but I wouldn't know if it is compatible with your work or system, or what happens with registrations, etc., but thought I'd pass it on.

Maureen, you have my utmost sympathy. I had a hard drive crash last fall and lost everything. Some was backed up. But more recent patterns were not (hadn't gotten around to backing up, yet). I lost several important patterns and the development of a time-consuming pulled thread sampler. It so devastated me that I can't get myself motivated to rework it. Over 50 pages of tedious directions/graphics for this one pattern alone.

If Photoshop 7 was registered, you may be able to get a replacement CD at minimal cost.

Honest, I really feel for you. The affect this had on me was more severe than I would have ever imagined. It knocked the stuffings out of me. So I really understand how you feel. Hugs!

Thanks Dianne. DH is going to contact the comp. repair guy today and see if he still has our original drive around anywhere. I'm hoping against hope that Photoshop is still on there, and was just overlooked somehow. But for you it would have been worse! Over 50 pages? I would have been chewing the keyboard! My prize chart was only 28 pages when complete and I thought that was HUGE! I'm actually looking at different techniques for making charts by hand. It'll be a lot more time consuming, but at least they won't be subjected to the whims of a quirky computer! lol
