another frustrated quilting week

Hi all. Life has been so busy in my world lately and I can only see it getting busier. This week I have been staying at my son's babysitting the 5 1/2 yr old granddaughter and 1 1/2 year old grandson. (My son finally got his surgery appointment in another city). It's been great spending time with the grandbabies, I only get to see them a couple of times a year normally. I had great plans on doing some sewing while I was here. The kids are in bed by 8:00, so I figured I would have at least 3 hrs every night to myself, and still get enough sleep to chase kids all day. Plus the 2 hr nap time in the afternoon while the older one is at kindergarten. So I packed up the fabrics for a new quilt top that has been planned for awhile, so I could get it cut. And I brought the current top that I have been stitching together a bit at a time. And cutting mat, rulers, rotary cutters, sewing machine, and a variety of gadgets. The best laid plans went out the window as grama got the flu! I had a cold the week before I came here. By the time I got here I was feeling pretty good with just a tickle left in my throat. The kids left on Sunday. Monday I was getting congested again. Tuesday it was much worse, and I was achy all over and feeling slightly nauseous. Yesterday I was wishing I could call "mommy"! By last night I was starting to feel better. This morning, my tummy is still not quite right and I have a bit of headache, (which could be caffeine withdrawl) and I think I'll live. I had forgotten how tuff it was to act like nothing is wrong when you feel like crap! Obviously, I didn't do as much with the grandkids as I would have liked to. I brought a craft box with me to help pass the time with the 5 year old, but the best I managed was some card games and board games. It looks like my son and his wife will be home this afternoon, and I will probably stay another couple of days, but their little abode is just not designed to have extras hanging around, and even my laptop will feel like it's in the way. So NO sewing for me! Today I have to haul a bunch of stuff back out to the car, as I piled all my sewing stuff in my son's bedroom. He's going to have enough trouble manuevering around with having to step over my stuff (back surgery).

Good thoughts and prayers to all who need them. Happy dances to others. I'm still at least scanning the list on a regular basis, not reading it all as I just don't have time.

I haven't posted much in awhile as I really haven't done much quilty stuff, although I'm still trying to find 10 - 15 minutes here and there to stitch a few pieces together. Some day I'll have another top done!

Farewell for now. Kids are waking up!
