Babies are coming!!!!

Yikes, I just did a count at work and with a small workforce of just under 40 people, there are 7 joining the gramdma brag club and 3 having babies of their own! I am known at work as the quilter and now find myself in the pickle of ...do I make 10 quilts (presumablly in the next

6 months ) or do I just give gifts. If I make a quilt for a few of the staff does it look like I'm favouring some and excluding others from a quilt? I need input here gals and guys. what to do? I could make up a bunch of non pink or blue quilts and just randomly assign them to the staff ( so far none but 2 of the staff know the sex of their expected arrival) I need a quick pattern that I can put together between watching over my DGD and working shift work. I have a feeling most of these quilts if I do make them will be late in the giving department. So much for getting an early jump on Christmas...sigh! Well there's always next year ;) donna inNWOntario

If I made any, it would be for the 3 having babies and not the ones having grandbabies.

I have a friend who purchased baby pillow panels and made pillows for her co-workers having babies.

Donna..... Have you seen the "Hungry Animals Alphabet" series? Adorable line of fabric, and there are a couple of panels that you could stitch up in a snap - plus companion fabrics in several colorways. Do a search on quiltshops.com because the prices vary wildly. Good Luck with whatever you decide to do!!

Mary, Yes I would do that but we are a very close knit group and when I announced to the world that I was becoming a granny, they had a baby shower for me after the arrival!! We love any excuse to get together and have a party !.I think we will be having one or two showers and group all the new arrivals together. Donna inNWONtario

I like the idea of the panels that have been mentioned. But, if you want to make something of your own, perhaps pieced bib - for very special occasions! Just something small, if you want to contribute to all 10! Certainly don't feel obligated to make 10 quilts. Phew! . In message , oldhag writes

When I run into a large crop of new babies, I purchase some lovely blankies and embroider all the pertinent info on it. They love them and I have given them something personal.

There are lots of cute pre-printed panels that make nice, easy baby quilts. Some are even pre-quilted, so you'd only need to add binding, but in my experience that pre-quilted stuff doesn't always stay quilted. Or if you want to take time to piece something, the Warm Wishes pattern from the Quiltmaker web site is quick and easy and looks more difficult than it really is.

Thanks, Julis, I love that one and I am pretty sure I can use up a lot of my stash on that pattern. I also reallly like the idea of quilted bibs. I hadn't thought of that but now I am thinking that would be fun too. I could even practice my applique on them... the jury is still our on applique, I'm not sure I like it but then again if I only had more time I could propbably learn to love it. right now quick and easy is my choice for any quilting I do. but givcen a few more years and then I just may be able to find dome free time...yea right!
