Infuriating lack of customer service

There is nothing wrong with Coats & Clark thread. Except that you obviously didn't buy your thread from her, therefore she thought she'd make you feel small in order to make herself feel important. I'd go out of my way to avoid buying anything from her shop in the future, or using her mechanic--unless he wants to repair your machine at his home without the shop owner knowing about it.

BTW There is a local Bernie dealer and repair man in the next city who is the brother of the owner of the quilt shop next door. I won't go there because the two stores are in a partnership and the quilt store lady is very rude, as if since you don't shop there daily you are wasting her time. The little quilt shop with the Janome dealer inside has always tried to be helpful, even staying open a few minutes late for me to search for something, so she gets my business when I can make the drive there. The little quilt shop with the Janome dealer

There is a Babylock dealer, who is 1 1/2 hours away, that closes at

2pm on Saturdays. He has two locations one even further away. When my Quest came in he opened the shop at 4pm to let me sew on the machine and pick out a serger. He was working at the shop further away from me so this was a special trip for him. Now I know he is also going to make money but a lot of dealers will not be inconvenienced for a customer. This guy seems like he is going to be someone who is easy to work with and would find out information for me if he doesn't know it himself.

There are a few good dealers out there but I have run into some really snotty ones. We have a Babylock dealer 2 miles from our house. She and her husband are terrible to their customers but people around here will put up with it because they don't want to drive very far and they are use to shopping in their little town.

Oh, yes, this machine is a sweetheart.

I do agree with those who said they should let Bernina know. They want dealers who keep customers coming back. My guess is that they limit the # of dealers in a geographic area -- so if there is one already -- and someone new applies, they'd probably get turned down. Only if Bernina knows that their current rep is not doing a good job can they consider new representatives. SPEAK UP! (when you are both happy and dissatisfied.
