OT: Prayers for Dad

Hi Everyone,

Dad has not had a good year. Knee replacement in October, prostate surgery in March, last week Mom took him to the hospital since she thought he was having a TIA-- docs said no, did not know why he felt shakey and some weakness. On Sunday he said that he felt like he had a broken rib. Mom had him laying down and gave him tylenol for the day. By

4 am yesterday morning, he was so uncomfortable he could not sit, lay or sleep so Mom took him to the nearest hospital. They finally saw him at 5, did a cat scan at 7:30 and by 9:30 am told them that there was nothing wrong on the side that hurt, but something looked wonky on the left side. Surgeon could not tell if it was a twisted bowel or not. Wanted him admitted and planned to repeat the cat scan this a.m. He was finally taken to his room at 3:00 yesterday afternoon.

DS and I went back to the hospital this a.m. They ran the second cat scan at 8 a.m., then told him at 9:30 a.m. that they started to read it, but that there was an emergency in the E.R. so they could not finish reading it. Now it is 3:30 pm and he still does not know what is happening. He is no longer hurting-- just his tushy hurts from laying in the bed so much. So far does not know if he is spending another night in the hospital, if he is going home, if he is OK, or if something is very wrong.

Please hold him in your thoughts and prayers as we figure out what is going on.

Prayers for all concerned and hoping it's just something minor that has resolved itself.

That's high level exhausting for all concerned but I'm glad they didn't just snap to a diagnosis; perhaps all is well now. We will be holding all of you close in our hearts and prayers, Polly

Will do, Debbi. How awful it must be, when the doctors can't figure out what the problem is. I do completely understand how that feels - the uncertainty compounds any physical pain or discomfort. Please let us know how he gets on. . In message , Debbi in So CA writes

You got 'em, Debbie. All the waiting is a drain, I know. Let us know.
