Thank you and some pictures and an odd dream. (LONG)

Good Morning,

A while back ( June 11th) I asked for inspiration and help with making a baby quilt. I got lots of good advice from many of you. The end result is at

in the "Twins and Ava" album. I did pinwheels for Pat in VA and the fuschia narrow border for Musicmaker. The rest is a composite of what others of you suggested and a picture that I saw somewhere on the internet. Don't look too closely. Ava's quilt was done, start to finish, in one afternoon! The twins' quilts took a bit longer and I think they are kind of cute (same album).

I had to marathon the three quilts mentioned above because my quilting time was being used to put together a quilt for a friend with cancer. Pictures of it and of him with it are in the "Quilt for Mike Chase" folder.

Later on ( July 2nd) I asked for information on where to buy Thermore batting. Sandy and Val made suggestions but, I regret to say, I didn't follow either of them. I tend to like to acquire "inventory" and I found that I could buy a case of 6 queen sized Thermore batts from Kingsmen Quilting supply for a very (I mean VERY) good price. That is what I did.

AND NOW THE DREAM...

I'm not sure where any of this came from. I had NOT been drinking.

In my dream Pat in VA was singing a nonsense song and dancing to the tune. I was trying desperately to remember the name of the song. Dear Polly was sitting nearby at her Bernina stitching something. On closer inspection she was satin stitching pink outlines of monkeys! Over and over, monkey after monkey. She kept pointing to them as though they were the answer. Be advised...Polly is always right. The song Pat was singing was Aba Daba Honeymoon !

If you read this far, you really need to go do some quilting. You are wasting precious time :-)

I think I know where some of that came from, Rita. You must have laughed with us about silly tunes that get stuck in our heads. I won't try to remember any of them lest I dream of Pat singing them too. She might have a lovely voice but I'm just not willing to take the risk. Polly

drinking with chocolate... calls for chocolate martinis! Chocolate Martini

(This recipe serves one to 1 1/2 depending on the size of your glass)

1 1/2 shots Godiva® chocolate liqueur 1 1/2 shots creme de cacao 1/2 shot vodka 2 1/2 shots half-and-half (lowfat half and half works just as well)

Mix all ingredients in a shaker with ice, shake and pour into a chilled martini glass.

Var. add a swirl of Hershey's syrup to the Martini glass for decoration, sub vanilla vodka, and/or wet the rim of your martini glass and dip it in hot chocolate mix

Funny dream! And it seems perfectly logical too. But it's never a waste of time to look at your quilts! I love the colors in the pinwheels. You are just terrific with colors. Roberta in D

Leslie,

I should point out that the "GM" you refer to is Lynn Marsella who used to post here. That MOM is hers and she generously allowed me to practice quilting on it about a year ago. I hope that she eventually bound it and is using it. It is quite lovely in person.

Finally, finally, I got a chance to go enjoy Rita's quilts. The batting blizzard was taking over the west side of our home and there was no way I could avoid shoveling it out. Now. Rita. Your quilts are glorious. I enjoyed everyone of them and was specially charmed with the quilting on the fishy one. A wonderful choice of thread and mood. Ah. Just right. Thank you for sharing. Polly

Howdy!

Gorgeous quilt, Rita.

Good news on the batting stash, too. Altho' we gave you locations for buying *some* Thermore, I'm w/ you on stocking up (Batt-Mart took care of me ).

Meanwhile, that Polly is a busy gal; see what she was up to on July 23:

That's precious. Thanks, Sandy. I love Family Circus . . . our newspaper only carries it on Sunday. Somedays they don't even get the day's date right. Journalism just isn't what it used to be. Polly
