ok, I'm machine quilting my new kitchen WH. I'm stippling with a beautiful variegated thread colour from cream to dark brown. The fabric goes from cream to dark brown. Why is it always the spot when the dark brown thread hits the nearly white fabric when I make an extra large stitch or the curves are not curvy but rocky... back to quilting Heidi

Maybe we should start our own set of Murphy's Laws? Call it Quilting Conundrums.... or something a bit more catchy? Any suggestions? ;-)

I have been busted over that law wayyyyyyyy too many times to ignore it. If I keep in mind that if something can go wrong it will, has helped me. Case in point, when I was younger I sewed my finger! AAACCCKKK

Jan, I think sewing your finger is a rite of passage or something. Most people who sew will admit that they have sewn their finger into a hand sewn project or pierced their finger or fingernail with a sm needle. (I've done both- and more than once- and swallowed a straight pin!) You do tend to wise up after either experience- well, apparently *I* don't- but *normal* people do! LOL

A friend of mine at school did the "straight through her finger with the sewing machine needling"-thing in class. I'm sure the needle wasn't all that sharp either. I went with her to the emergency room. Guess that was enough warning for me - didn't need to try that myself...

Does that mean, I'm no quilter Haven't done this with the SM, but of course while hand quilting. And of course I have checked the sharpness of the rotary cutter blade myself .
