Help with Sidekick

I just bought a big box of misc scrapping stuff off of Craigslist. It was a great deal, and I just went through it and am so happy I got it. Anyway, it had a Sizzix Sidekick in it. It has no books or anything, so I am curious about it. It had a couple of dies with it as well. I need to know what kind of dies I can use with it, and what kind won't fit. Can I use Cuttlebug dies or regular Sizzix dies, or does it only take Sizzlits? I would appreciate any help you all could give me.

it only takes sizzlits from the sizzix brand, but you can do some bosscuts and cuttlebug dies in it.

I use mine for quickutzs, cuttlebug, ellison thin cuts, small boss cuts and zip'ecutes. You have to use a sizzlits adapter. You can't use the regular sizzix dies as they are too thick and wide.

You can buy a couple on ebay as the shipping at sizzix.com is too high unless you are ordering a bunch of stuff.

April,

I have an extra adapter for the side kick so you can use quickuts dies, etc. If you send me an e-mail with your address I will mail it to you.

Is that the little black thing? If so, I have two of them that were in the box. Thank you, though, Tammy. That was very nice of you.

Yes, that is the adapter. Glad you have one. Now... you need more dies. LOL!

I have always wondered this. I have my Sidekick but haven't bought any other dies besides sizzlits because I didn't know if I could use them. I will have to look for that adapter.

I totally agree. I have been looking at some alphabet sets, but they are pricey. I will keep my eyes open for some good deals. I noticed that either Michael's or JoAnn had all Sizzix stuff 40% off this week, so maybe I'll drop by there this week.

Crystal... I have an extra. Please don't buy one. I will be happy to send you one! Just send me an e-mail with your address.

The adapters come in packs of 10 or some ridiculous amount. You really only need one. I guess it is there way of selling more little black pieces of plastic (aka adapter). The good news is the adapter works really well for the Quickutz dies. I haven't tried any other dies out there with my Sidekick. The best part is we only need one machine to cut with!

PS - I am glad to hear the Cuttlebug dies work also. I have been wondering about those.
