June Challenge COMPLETED!!!!

Ladies and Gentleman, I have completed my June challenge!!!! Yeah for me!! I did a single layout, called Chef Daniel. My DS #2 cooked my DM dinner for her birthday in January. I used some plaid fabric to create a frame for the picture and journaling. The title is stamped on ribbon. (it bled a bit, but that's okay, not sure how to prevent this in the future tho, will have to think on that) For embellishments I used a Jolee's salad bowl (we didn't have salad, rather Pacific Rim Stirfry) but it was close in colors. I also used 3 bottle caps. Put fabric in 2 of them and a picture of DS#2 in the middle one. I must say that I released some tension while flattening the bottle caps! Think that's all. Not very stunning but I enjoyed doing it, needless to say it didn't turn out the way I'd envisioned but again, that's okay. The picture is in my challange album. I also loaded a LO in my BOM album. Enjoy.

I was calling each bottle cap the name of a person at my "benefit management co". Then whacked 'em a bunch of times! It did bring in DH and DS#2. They were wondering what was going on. DH said, "oh, just your mom killing the caps"....

Thanks Dave!

Way to go Kenda!!! I really like the Chef Daniel one! What did Daniel think of it? As for the bottle caps... I'm sure you have a whole lot of them and as long as you keep some intact for your DH, I'll bet he won't mind you wacking away at them.

Kenda, it is a great LO. I love it. I had never thought of using bottlecaps before. I might have to scraplift that. The comment about DH telling DS #2 just mom puonding bottle caps sounds like my DH. Whenever I use eyelets DH tells DS's (which ever one is in the house at the time) it is just your mom doing that scrapbooking thing again!

DH gives me his. He uses bottles that have the tops already attached. He finds it amusing that I'm whacking 'em with a rubber mallet. (the guy at Lowes kept trying to get me to purchase a black one. I told him "No, I want the white one." But it will show the dirt really quick. "I'm using it to smash bottle caps and texturize stuff, trust me it won't get dirty! I like the white, it's pretty" With that he rolled his eyes and left me alone! LOL )

OH, ment to say that Daniel looked at it. He then critiqued my journaling, I have a sentence that has a word or two too many. ("once your print on the 'good paper' you just go with it son") He then said it looked good, except for his expression. Hey I can't change that kiddo! He liked it.

Thanks! My DH says the same thing. He's just glad I'm busy and not driving him up the wall by trying to help him to death while he's trying to do something! LOL

It looks great! Did you stamp the title on the twill or did you print it out? I have been wanting to do that but have been too nervous. I like how you put the picture in the bottlecap with the fabric in the other two.

Way to go Kenda! It's marvelous that we can take our frustrations out in a creative way, isn't it? LOL I love the bottlecaps. I've used them on the outside of a container, but not on a layout because I was concerned about them being so think. Now I know what to do! Just pound the heck out of them! Thanks Kenda! :-)

Thanks Teresa. My LO for my BOM was a little hard to do. It was hard deciding which cars to include. So I decided to go with my first (old pickup it was as old as I was) and then my current. Couldn't believe I found an image that looked just like that old truck!

I stamped using fluid chalk. Wonder if that's why it bled a little? Would it do that with regular ink? I was nervous too but just decided to jump in. Nothing ventured, nothing gained! LOL

Absolutely Deb! I read on NG the trick for flattening the bottle caps and still keeping them looking like a bottle cap. Just make sure noone in the house is sleeping because they won't be when you're done! LOL

I experimented once with stamping on grosgrain ribbon. I had the same bleeding problem with the pigment inks. But the water based inks didn't bleed. I wonder if it has to do with the fast drying in the water based ink.

I may have to wait until this fall when everyone is out of the house during the day! LOL DS already shuts my craft room door when I pound eyelets. I would hate to see what he would do if I was pounding bottle caps. He would probably take my hammer away from me. I can hear it now, "Mommy, you disobeyed me. I told you not to make all that racket." LOL
