I just picked up the premier issue of "Scrapbooking and Beyond" distributed by All American Crafts with as Editor Jane Guthrie the former editor of Craftworks, now known as Create & Decorate. Frankly I was blown away and given that I get Making Memories, PaperKuts, CK and Scrapbooks ETC, that's saying something. I love the layout and the content and the explanations are extreamely well done (numbered steps and there is also a sheet with patterns in the center of the magazine). I think it's the kind of magazine that will to every level of scrapbooker...and no, unfortunately I don't own shares in it. I'm planning on subscribing to it, 6 issues for $22.97.
If you want to peak at the contents take a look at their website:
I honestly wasn't impressed with this one. The images seemed fuzzy and the content made me think same old, same old. The whole feel seemed done on the cheap and I'm still trying to find the subscription info, though the newstand price is $5.99 for both of these mags. They boast a bonus 16 page pullout where you can cut and copy letters and fun backgrounds. However you;d better copy the letters first, because the letters and backgrounds are back to back so you have a choice to make if you want to use the originals. I'm also still looking to find their website, if they have one.
I do not intend to subscribe to that one.
Please remember that your tastes might not be mine. Just thought I'd give you a heads up on a really wonderful mag and one that to me at least, has far less appeal.
Enjoy your reading!
