OT: checking up on Jessie

I recently got an email from her brother... It was sent to a lot of us on the group. I was going to ask (but hadn't before now) if it was legit from her brother. M-C, April, Dave...anyone know?

I hadn't forwarded on to anyone not knowing if it was ok...didn't want to offend anyone.

I got the same e-mail........wondered the same thing myself. Thought I would sit back and wait to see what M-C finds out. Sandy

I think it probably was legit...wasn't asking for anything, just updating us on her condition. From his email she is making small strides toward her recovery, she is able to brush her own hair in the front and is trying to feed herself. She is unable to eat solid food, so it is all mushed up to a paste. So...small strides, but making progress none the less! It is very encouraging, but she has such a long road ahead of her...

My address on the email was wrong, but fortunately Marilyn forwarded it to me. I forwarded the email to Matt and have heard back that the email looks legitimate to him. I'm going to write back to the brother and see what happens. I'll keep everyone posted. I was going to post this to my yahoo group, but since everyone can read it here, I won';t double post.

I am now on step 2. I have sent the following email to the individual claiming to be Jessie's brother.

This email was forwarded to me since you did not have my correct email address.

You will understand that we are understandably weary of being approached by people we do not know. As I've always been the person taking responsibility for contacts and projects between Jessie's family and the group, this email was forwarded to me.

Our efforts have often gone unacknowledged and since we did not know if she was receiving things and did not get things back that we needed to have returned, we have sat back and waited for the family to pick up where we left off.

If you can tell me what we have sent to Jessie over time and what I sent to her mother and never got back, that will go a long way to being sure that you are who you claim to be.

We do care about Jessie, but we also want to know that we are not sending things that are not wanted and that we are not dealing with someone who simply got the info off the web and is trying to scam us. As a first step we have contacted Jessie's ex who was a member of our group for a while.

I appreciate your patience in letting us check you out and hope that you will be able to tell us what we have sent and what the relationship has been between the group and Jessie's family since her accident. I'd also like to know the name of your girlfriend and where she lives and what her email address is since we have also received email from someone claiming to be your gf.

We really do hope that you are who you claim to be and that you will be able to give Jessie our love and let her know that she is not forgotten.

That's right. I'm just making double sure especially since we heard from someone claiming she was his gf before hearing from him.
