OT: Something wonderful happened this week...

Hey Everyone!

I just wanted to share some good news with you all. This past week I became an instant aunt for the first time! My DS and her DH have been trying to fall pregnant for the past few years, but so far no luck. Teresa turned 40 last year and her geneacologist advised her that if she didn't fall pregnant very soon, it might be dangerous to do so for her health as well as the little one's.

Relatives in her DH's family have fallen on hard times (long story), and have a little girl, Mikhayla, of nine months. They are no longer able to care of her financially and decided that they want the best for their little girl and therefor have requested Teresa and Gary to foster Mikhayla out of the blue!!

They will be fostering her for the next two years and after that, will be eligible to adopt her permanently. (the adoption rules in SA are very strict and foster parents in a volutary adoption like this, first have to "proove" themselves).

Well to make a long story short - we are all over the moon! I 've been having a ball this past week shopping for "little fuzzy thingies and teensy little clothes! It's the first "grandchild" in our immediate family and suffice to say that I'm looking for ideas on Baby LO's! :))) Fortunately I have a lot of inspiration in this group!

If anyone would like to take a peek, I uploaded two phodies I just received from Teresa on my webshots account. The links are:

That's great for your family. My oldest DD is adopted also, and it was an infamily adoption. When my oldest DS was born they told me we could never have more children. So when the family issue came up and our DS was only 10 months old we adopted DD as an infant srtaight from the hospital. They grew up almost like twins. Needless to say we did have more children and ended up wiht five - very spread out. DS is 29, DD is 28, middle DD is 21, youngest DD is 12 and youngest DS is 8. After the youngest DD I had a tubal then DS came along. He's out special gift from God. Tell your DS and her DH congratulations for me. Adopted children are special. My DD and iIare so close, and most people think we look alike. Sandy

CONGRATS There Judy and Sandy TOO! I think that the adoption programs in place in most palces is so great, IF i is monitored and the scrubs are weeded out. I so much wanted to adopt and was open to it in both my marriages. The first was very in to it too until she got ahold (literally) a quack obgy dr. The seconnd, well I just do not want to go there!!!

Then for me too, THIS WEEK I became a new uncle again too (instead of an aunt - with Molly -LOL!) Mariann, my neice had a baby boy, 65 lbs, 19 " long Fri. His name is Jacob, or Jinah? I am confused and do not remember!!! Molly has corrected me a couple times, but still lame brained!!!

Anyhow last Mon she went in for her weekly c/u. He had turned upside down and was so far uder her stomach, they had to take a x-ray to see him. She was told if did not have him or go into labor by Fri, they would have to take him. So she had a c-section Fri morn nad he is healthy and happy as a horse!! I can't wait to spoil him now with NOISY toys - LOL!!!

But the bad thing, the worthless sucker, well last summer when he found out for sure she was pg, he left. In past couple weeks when he thought the baby was about due, he wants to be back around and was there for the birth. I was not as I am stewing in that Mariann is considering giving the worthless &^%$# anothr chance! Sis is totally dumbfounded too. Oh well so much for life, I am SOOO HAPPY for the baby though and again can not wait to spoil him and get the first noisy TOY!!!

Isn't it strange how things sometimes work out like that? I also said to Teresa she must not be surprised if she falls pregnant in this year! She really longed for a baby, but it's very difficult to adopt over here and her age counts against her. All children are gifts from God and this little girl is a very special one. :)
