still having problems accessing group

I am so frustrated with trying to access this group. I usually use Outlook Express to access it and up until a few weeks ago had no problems. Now every time I want to download the messages the group is gone. I have to update the list of groups and search to find it again. Then I have to download about a months worth of messages. What a major pain!! I am on the Google site now trying to catch up but I am pretty far behind. I am going to try having the messages forwarded from Google to my inbox and see how that goes for now. I hate having to come here to read the messages. I'd much rather just read them in Outlook. Any way that is why I have disappeared as of late. I am off to try to catch up on the messages now. Try resetting your groups. Just right click on the newsgroup in the OE list. Then click on Properties Click on the Local Files tab, then click on reset. I haven't done it for quite some time, but I think it erases all the messages and starts fresh. You might also want to compact your folders. All this does is use a little less space on your computer.

Linda...this is just a thought but have you tried creating a new identity in OE and seeing if that helps. You will need to set up you email address and things for the new id but I am wondering if your identy file has become corrupt for some reason....could have been a crash that messed things up :o) OE can be a pain sometimes but in the past if I have had persistent problems with it I have copied my user file to the desktop, deleted the original file and the next time you open OE it is like starting from day one....only problem is you have to collect all your addresses etc. unless you manage to import them again. Making the new id to try to sort out the NG problem will still allow you to use your original mail and addresses...you would just need to change identity! Marilyn

I'm sorry you're having so many problems Linda. Have you tried treatening your computer? I find that if I threaten it with bodily damage, it straightens up. Last week my 'puter was acting up and out of frustration, I smacked the front of the case. Either what I had been trying worked, or the smack did! LOL

Hi Linda,

I would try just using Google to access the group. Google has a really nice front end for Usenet groups like this. Go to:

groups.google.com

and then search for "rec.crafts.scrapbooks".

Good luck, Noah
