Now, how about a little opera?

My DGD attended the Woodwinds at Wallowa Lake camp:

Here is a sample of what these great kids accomplished:

Wish I could have heard them. I went to UTube on your link, but had no sound. MY own GD is a violist, in Germany. We have high hopes for her.

Alex, not yet disappeared.

Hi Alex, long time no see. Sorry the link didn't work for you.

I think the prob is on my end. The sound may be deactivated for those who do not have a current google/Utube account. I'm not sure about this, because I can log onto Utube as a guest and the sound is fine.

BtW: I said wrongly. GD is a cellist. Her *brother* is a violist. Chalk it up to old age.

I noticed that when I moused over the bottom of the screen, there was a mute/volume control button. Perhaps sound was turned off?

Yeah, it's heck when violinists get old...

Beautiful music; great artists; what more can I say? I do like certain operas sometimes, not always.

Your DGD is beautiful, too.

The only opera I like is Gilbert & Sullivan. Oh, wait...

Thanks!

He had just glanced at the band director when the photographer snapped the picture. He said he really wished he'd been looking straight ahead (I think it's a better picture this way! lol) Very serious, marching face. :)

Got to love the photo and you are correct.

Congratulations to Andy. I wish him a great year, even after losing his friend. BTDT> In 7th grade, I lost one of my good friends in a freak accident; he was playing with fireworks during a New Year's Eve party. It was a long time ago, but I remembered when I read about Andy's friend.

LOL!!!! Yeah. We can't deny each other can we?? I look the most like my dad of any of the four of us kids. But you should see pictures of Andy and Dad at the same ages. I've had people ask me where I took Andy to get sepia and black & white pictures taken in old clothes. LOL One friend of mine looked at a picture of Dad when he was about 3 and said "Who is that? Well, I mean, that's Andy, but who is it really???"

We are the dominant end of the gene pool. heh heh

Thank you so much, Emily. I will pass that along to him. He's really doing very well. He's focusing a lot on memories of good times with his friend now. And I think that's very important.

We did find out that she was the only one in the car to suffer serious injuries at all. She was also the only one not wearing a seat belt.

I still vividly remember the little boy who sat next to me in 3rd grade. (Tommy.) I was in between him and his best friend, Kevin, in class. This was the teacher's attempt to keep them from talking. They just passed notes instead, of course via me. He was at his cousin's house over a weekend and they were digging a tunnel to play in. The tunnel collapsed on them. I still remember our teacher telling us all what happened and then Mom taking me to the visitation at the funeral home. You just never forget a life that is cut that far too short. It's such a very sad thing.

Like older DD and I cannot deny it. We have, more often than can be counted, been asked, "Oh, you're sisters, aren't you" or (to DD), "Is this your sister?". Very flattering to me, to her not so much. Now that she has stopped dying her hair it is almost completely white, while mine still retains quite a bit of (natural) light brown. Makes it all that much harder for her, but she is pretty good natured about it. We both laugh.

Pictures of DD when she was a teenager look almost identical to the way DGD looks now. Blair has a pretty good preview of at she will look like at 46 and 72. :->
