Grizzly Customer Service! RANT

Just ordered a G1023Z table saw and the freight was $55.00. Wanted the G7314 Shop Fox Mobile base for $70.00 also. They wanted to charge me another $7.95 in freight for it. I cancelled the mobile base...they lost a $70 sale for the want of an additional $7.95 freight charge.

Their explanation was the two items came from different places, one in Mo. and one from Pennsylvania.

Oh well, the rant is over, guess I'll make me a base while waiting on the saw!

Regards, Lewis

Personally, I don't see the problem here. Did you expect a single $55 freight charge on anything you might order that time? Why should Grizzly do that even regardless of the fact that they had to ship each item from different parts of the country? Each item has a set freight rate with their carrier.

I'm no Grizzly apologist (check the archives here and in rec.woodworking!) but I don't see the problem here.

You'll like the G1023Z. Nice machine but take some time to check over the fit and finish once you get it set up. A little fiddling here and there is sometimes required on that item.

A few months ago I decided to get into pen turning. I ordered some basic supplies and equipment from a certain supplier-dot-com. My order among other things included a minilathe with a bundled 7mm drill bit and an extra mandrel for my friend that was supposed to be bundled with another 7mm bit. Needless to say I only got one. An email enquiring into the destiny of the second bit was never answered. Since then my hobby turned into a pretty steady business. I purchased $2500 worth of power tools, pen kits and supplies from a different shop. $2500 worth of business was lost to a competitor over a stupid 7mm brad point HSS drill bit. Sometimes I even feel a little sorry for the guy.
