Kudos to Teknatool support

I have had my NOVA DVR since Feb w/ no problems at all. I have pretty much ran the gammit on it as well - from some small spindle work to spinning around about a 60lb slab to make a bowl from.

The other day I started turning a small bowl when all of a sudden the I was getting a fault error. It was about 11pm on Wednesday. I emailed Teknatool and went to bed. The next morning there was a response in my mailbox on a few things to try. (Which pretty much shocked me to get a response at all!) None worked so I called the woodcraft I got it from - they refurred me to the woodcraft tech number - I called them told them the info and they said someone would get back to me soon. I got a call w/in 15min from the person handling warrantee repair for Teknatool. I explained to him the problem, he gave me a few things to try w/ no success. He said that it was still under warrantee so they would send me a new head. He then asked me if I would be willing to try swapping out a new board first before having to ship out the head. I said no sure - and he fed-exed me a new board. I got it the next day by

10am - called him and he walked me thru how to swap it out. Still the same problem - he confirmed that the head was definately fried. And they would ship me out a new one on Monday.

I spoke w/ the him today and confirmed the shipment was made. Should be here by Wednesday.

Its nice to deal w/ a company that stands by their product vs making you jump thru hoops.

(Not associated w/ them at all - just a happy customer).

Hi all!

I had a very similar experience with my Nova DVR. They replaced my headstock overnight. I was very pleased with Teknatool's service. I'm a little disappointed that they're no longer making the ornamental turning tool though. I'd ordered one from Woodcraft back in June, and kept getting the runaround from Woodcraft. Finally, early this month they told me that Teknatool was no longer producing the OT tool. This, after I'd already sunk hundreds of dollars into cutting bits and other accessories for the OT tool. Needless to say, I wasn't too pleased with Woodcraft. I think I'm going to find someplace else where I can pick up my turning tools from now on... By the by, I must say that I am a little concerned about the DVR... This is the third one that I've heard of that's had a similar problem. I hope this doesn't turn out to be a recurring problem.... Even if it is, I have no doubt that Teknatool will solve the problem!

PS: The Stockley Gardens Fall Arts Festival has come and gone. Pretty much all of the artists agreed that this was not one of the better years for the show... It seems that most people are still spending money recovering from Hurricane Isabel, so they're not spending as freely as they have in the past. I did manage to sell five pieces, though not the show-stoppers. And no awards this time around. Oh well, c'est la vie. Maybe the next show I do... I'll post some pics of the booth when I get an opportunity.

Actually - it was the same fault that you got Ali. I actually found one of your old posts that described what to do to help clear it.
